I was researching for a possible story about a soon to be trans teen who is offered a modeling job. I came across this some folks here might find it interesting.

Women wearing pants (trousers )

I was doing a little research on just when women started wearing trousers (pants on this side of the pond) and came across this article at Britannica.com.

The last paragraph is precious. "Today in the US, the question of whether women can wear pants in public isn't a question at all, which means we're free to move on to the next frontier of gendered fashion, making it socially acceptable for men to wear dresses. Fair's fair, right?"

Pattison in a skirt?

This surfaced today, there are articles everywhere:

Pattison in a skirt

You may consider my link frivolous but its only one of many that DDG threw up.

I'm not sure that I like this trend. OK it may be comfortable for men to wear but it blurs the lines over something most of us didn't want blurred: we'd rather just be on the other side!

The first cut..

...for a long, long time. about 50 years, in fact. Our company Christmas party is coming up soon, so I decided my hair, which had returned to the wild, needed something which wouldn't get in the soup, or require the usual ponytail band all the time. I took this here photo, just after being outdoors so pardon if the mop still looks a bit unruly. If you feel the need to laugh, be my guest! It makes me smile.

Bookstores

I love discoveries in bookstores. What are favorites, perhaps not in your own town but a worthy destination?

One of mine is Malaprop’s, Asheville, North Carolina; forever grateful to the friends who insisted on a stop there during a trip.

Also, does it have a cat, at least as of your last visit? Malaprop’s: yes.

Misgendered in the right way

For the last year and especially the last six months I’ve been more out and open with my presentation. I got my ears pierced (it took 3 tries for the left one!), usually have my nails painted, and have been letting what’s left of my hair grow out.

I dress as femme about 80% of the time, while presenting as male when necessary ex officio.

The History of Banning High Heels

I just have to share this video titled The History of Banning High Heels by fashion historian Nicole Rudolph about all the different reasons that society tried to ban high heels from the 1850's to the 1920's. The reasons, from our point of view, are so silly that they are hilarious.

Spoiler alert: Back then a high heel was defined as anything higher than about 1.5 inches!

What Would You Do: Sales clerk refuses to sell clothes to transgender woman

I was flicking around Youtube, as you do, when I found this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XYBx__4iAUw

I was surprised by the amont of GG's standing up for the transgender lady. It's old, 2017. Don't read the recent comments though. Some of the people are going on about the stores clerk, needing to be sacked. They dont seem to realize she is an actor, like the trans lady.

Does stuff like this happen for real?

Clothing and gender

Re-reading some old comments I was reminded of how what is regarded as male or female garb depends on time and place.

In many countries men walk around in what really is the same thing as dresses. In Suva I saw a bunch of teenage schoolboys in their school uniform skirts. And what about the cute little skirts Greek guard soldiers wear?

If I remember correctly Romans despised Britons as barbarians for wearing bifurcated garments on their lower body.

need an excuse?

There is an apparent shortage of men's underwear. I have been waiting for the back to school sales to pick up a few basics. One store recently had a twenty-five percent off sale on underwear for the family. I could not find any men's briefs in any size but extra large. Not to worry, I had to got to Wal-Mart this week and they usually have back to school sales. I couldn't find a single pair of plain men's briefs. Just across the aisle though was a big display of ten packs of women's panties. There's your excuse; just go with it.

Heels: What they don't tell you

Ok, it should be common enough knowledge that elevated heels on footwear may hurt one's feet, make one walk funny, add noises to the progress, and of course add to bodily height.
What should be added to the cautionary list is banging your head on stuff, jamming knees under steering wheels and tables and suddenly being unable to reach items on the floor and low shelves. Thank you so much Rocket Dog.

Character Creation

This is Sam. Whether the mission is to be sweet and find the betrayer, or to be spicy by BEING the betrayer, Sam is ready.

And his favorite color is clear to all who can see.

----------‐-------------

(Ran into a new Among Us type game, had some fun with character creation. Entertaining reactions after "Dora and Boots" successfully killed everyone, with Sam obviously being "Dora". But I made sure to leave it visible in the attached photo that Sam is in fact a male character.)

A Borg

I'm sitting in a parking lot right now, waiting for my daughter to get done with an appointment. I'm sitting directly across from the door, so I can see when she comes out.

A little bit ago, someone walked out with tattoos all over his face. Now if someone wants a tattoo or two, thats fine. They're an expression of ... diversity, I guess, but as you can tell, I don't have one. Were I to transition, I might do eyeliner. That's about as far as I'd go, however.

T-girl children's bikini

I was surprised to hear an item on my local (Toronto, Canada) morning radio program about a father who is starting up a small company to make bikini bottoms for young T-girls, so that his daughter can go to the beach. If this first product is successful, other products will be added in the future.

One Inch Too Far

All my shoes are from Payless Shoesource, which is now in the process of closing all their stores and going out of business. I'm upset.

They're not great shoes, but they're "good enough" shoes at inexpensive enough prices that I can make a mistake or three and it's no big deal. And they come in my size! Which is a problem anywhere else, unless you're willing to pay a fortune.

Gotta love the complements

I was in town for my usual weekly electrolysis treatment. Since we live 40 miles out of town we try take care of multiple errands when ever we're there. As a result, I stopped by the grocery store to pick up a few things to save a trip into town later. While I stopped to sample some new brand of chili, a lady stopped to tell me how much she liked my blouse. :o)

Extreme frustration is setting in rapidly!

I ordered some underwear from an online site. Please don't take me to task for that, okay? The package arrived after many days and all was as ordered...except.

Their ad stated that their bras run small and they advise people who order them, to order them two full strap/band sizes larger than they usually wear, a good thing as it turns out.

A relevant fundraising campaign

Hey everyone! Wearevalid.com has an Indiegogo campaign going for a new style of tucking panties. They're designed for all-day wear, unlike the thong gaffs that everywhere else sells. As a bonus, people who don't necessarily need them can instead donate pairs to Point of Pride, who donate binders and forms (and now these!) to low-income transgender individuals.

BC Credit for Amazon Purchases

I followed the Amazon.com link and I think I lost the BC referral (tag=dopplerpress-20 in the URL) as soon as I left the "Books" section of Amazon. It stayed missing if I clicked "Best Sellers" and then clicked "Books" again. Does that mean that BC gets no commission if I search out a teapot (for instance) even though I entered via the link from BC?

The Selene Vagi-Gaff?

Has anyone on the site actually bought and tried this?
How comfortable is it?
How comfortable is it to wear for, say, 48 hours?
Are there equivalent items that can be worn for longer periods?
How many of us as adults successfully and non-painfully can get our balls back inside?
I can't bend my penis comfortably down and under .... what do others do??

I can't write an upcoming story without real knowledge!!
Thanks for any replies

Anothr retail store front dies!

Another Electronics Retail Chain has died.

Radioshack has been laid to rest and they will be auctioning off the assets of its Dallas, Tx Corperate office.

Like those who fell before, CompUSA and Circuit City, they failed to adapt and move with the changing world.
First Wal-mart moved in by offering a selection of products that directly competed, I know from experience with Best Buy that they started letting people go and pushing there employees a lot harder so the experience went down, started only offering over priced in house labels of accessories, etc...

Halloween Ideas Please

A couple of years before I joined this site I made my first - and so far my only - attempt at cross-dressing for a Halloween do. It was a wicked witch of the west thing, and it went down pretty well. The only problem I had was with the underwear, which wasn't my size and made me feel really uncomfortable.

To cut a long story short, my knickers kept falling down.

Anyone else floating in the same boat?

Since childhood i am fascinated with long hair. A thick curtain of long, loose, flowing, silky waist length hair. My heart aches with those little things that can be done in open and in public(as taken for granted by some beautiful creation of God). The cute tuck of hair behind the ear, the slight head movement to get the hair out of face or the full head toss over the back. The casual beautiful head and wrist combo movement to toss the silky mass back over the shoulder. The gathering of hair in one hand to put on a necklace or lean down to blow a candle.

Advice needed please

I help run a yearly convention. A year and a half ago or so, one of our attendees transitioned MtF. As far as I know, she has had no troubles, other than some wrong name usage (she has been coming to the convention for 10+ years). The wrong name usage dropped from last year to this year. Even my very conservative friends have treated her well, doing their best to use her correct name.

I remember trips to the "beauty parlor" with my Mom, but I was only a boy, at least that is what everyone saw. *sigh*

This started out as a reply to Dottie's story "The Machine", but it kept growing.

Note: Not Fiction, yet sort of a a story, but it just might spur a story later on.
