It took a while to get into but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The two protagonists, Leo and David have an interesting relationship which becomes more and more interesting. David has known since he was a kid he wanted to be a girl but can't bring himself to tell his parents. He's bullied in school until he's rescued by Leo, a mysterious new boy who has a reputation for being tough. At first he doesn't want to know David or his two eccentric friends but eventually comes to like him as they depend upon each other to cope with life.

This is the first book in ages that I cared enough about the characters that I lost some sleep worrying about them. I thoroughly recommend it, buy it, borrow it, steal it - just read it, it's excellent.
