It gets stranger...
I read that article, earlier tonight.
And from articles I read, years ago. In Africa, there is a group of people that are born with what appears to be penises and an empty scrotum sac. They are raises as boys, until they hit puberty, where they start growing breasts, and their monthly periods begin.
Some of these people do not even have an vaginal opening, and they require surgery.
So, there are two sides of the same coin in this world.
Won't you like to learn if members of these two groups got to talking with each other. That would make for an interesting conversation.
I had heard of this,
quite a while back in fact. I have not seen any articles on it in a long time tho.
Of course the stupidity level that the comments descend to does not surprise me. Seems everything from politics to religion and pot shots at various groups and people, including people who have this condition.
I wonder how much prejudice and hate these boys end up having to endure.

I just came across this story on Facebook.
A lot of the comments on the thread I saw were a long the lines of,
"This is hoax"
Arrgh.
Arrgh.
No, it's not a hoax. It's a well known (among medical types that deal with intersex conditions) genetic anomaly.
Just like AIS/CAIS. Which has XY fetuses developing as (mostly) female. Without genetic screening, the first hint that they aren't female is when they don't have a period after starting puberty.
They tend to have smaller breasts and hips than XX females, but not outside the realm of normal distribution. Jamie Lee Curtis has the body type you'd "expect" for a CAIS female.
Besides genetic tests the other big giveaway is that the vagina dead ends and there's no uterus.

I know it is not a hoax.
The problem is anyone can post anything on the internet, it has become hard to tell what is and is not really. I have seen plenty of hoaxes taken as real.
Combine this with the incomplete short info blip type stories posted online, even by main stream sources., and it is hard to tell what is really going on. These stories are little more then extended headlines, leaving what really happened open to wild speculation.

Well.
That's more prevalent in nature than I suspected. Glad to know the idea for the story I'm currently working on has some solid science behind it.
