So here I am, blogging on a transgender story website, where I'm hopeless addicted to reading a story and becoming addicted to writing a story. I guess there are worse things to be a addicted too, like shopping.

So I was working today and I saw this girl and her guy. She was done up for some kind of fancy charity lunch. She was wearing a white dress with some black pattern, it was long enough not to be slutty but short enough to be young and fun. She was really quite beautiful I'm guessing she was like 20, but who knows she could have been 16, hard to tell. I don't see many girls dressed up like that, I'm not "on the town" much, I don't go to church, and you know 'round here everybody wears worn out jeans and t-shirts everyday. Needless to say I was like, "WOW." I wish my wife could look like that, and I wondered what it would be like to look like that and have some goober like me staring at you. While I was waiting for them to cross in front of me she gave me a big smile and waved a cutesy little wave. I returned an equally huge smile and cutesy little wave.

OH yeah I was gonna talk about shopping. My wife and I like to thrift shop, a lot. Like almost everything in my closet comes from a goodwill store. Over the last several years my tastes have been changing. It's not hard to massively change your wardrobe when you pay 3 dollars per item. So I never cared all that much about how I look, and I still don't sometimes, but over the last few years things have been changing. I used to dress in the way that would most allow me to blend into the background. Well a couple summers ago I bought a Hawaiian shirt kind of for a lark. It was black silk and brightly colored with big tropical flowers, about the opposite if my normal wear. I was surprised by how much people liked it, and how much I liked it. I have like 10 great Hawaiian shirts now and wear them all the time. I'm also growing a fine selection of dress shirts with interesting designed patterns.

One thing I don't do is buy women's clothes at thrift shops. I usually don't even go look at them. I would probably go check out the dresses if I wasn't embarrassed, but it's not like a big fixation for me. There was this one time though, which really was the point of this whole blog entry because this memory just stuck in my head tonight. Once we were looking around and there was a rack of mixed clothes yet to be organized into departments. At the end of this rack was a black dress. I was immediately drawn to it. It kind of looked like something Wednesday Adamms would wear, except for it had a round open neck. The material seemed very plush, and I looked around to see if anyone was looking, the tag said made in Russia, wow it's got worldly mystique, and it's a size 14 hmmm.

I grab my wife and show her, telling her I think she'd look awesome in it. She's like, first off it's too small, secondly I don't wear dresses, 3rd it's ugly, 4th I'm not a goth. I was like, bummer, I thought you'd like it. She says, "Well if you like it so much buy it,"

I'm thinking really, can I buy this, I mean will they let me up at the counter or say, "Sorry sir, that's for our female shoppers only." I'm really thinking about it.

She gives me a look says, "I'm just kidding, don't buy that ugly thing." I didn't.

Money

Thrift stores only care about the money, everything else is secondary. I'm well known at the local thrift stores as well as the salvage outlet store. This is a college town and much of the stuff is new or like new. Got a Ralph Lauren skirt with the tags still on it for $3.00! That was at the Goodwill Store. I'm there so often I have a discount card! And I scored a great well broken-in leather coat at the Sally Ann for $5.00! There's nothing like the smell of leather when it's old and well treated!

I went outside once. The graphics weren' that great.

Will they let me????

You darn betcha they will. I've bought a number of clothing items at Goodwill. The one that comes to mind is a nightgown. My wife and I were shopping at Goodwill one day, looking for some grungies to wear while camping. Unlike you, I happily cruse through the women's clothes. (Not just at Goodwill, but anywhere.) I don't often find things I like there, but occasionally. This time, I happened on an ankle length, very sheer, very feminine nightgown. I snatched it and slipped into the dressing room to try it on. It fit beautifully.

Since I wear a nightgown to bed every night and I was getting tired of the current selection, I decided I wanted it. I found my wife and informed her that I was going to buy it. She's a bit shy about letting people know her husband cross-dresses and the nightgown would have been way too long on her, she's only five feet tall. So when it came time to check out, she waited outside while I paid. The lady who was ringing up my purchases, paused when she got to it and held up the nightgown. "Very pretty," she said. "It'll look great on you." I think she thought she'd embarrass me, but I smiled and said, "It did when I tried it on."

She had little to say after that and was all business as she rang up the rest of my purchases.

Hugs
Patricia
