I experienced several "Service Temporarily Unavailable" message pages last evening and just experienced 2 this morning. Is this an issue you know about, or is there a problem on my end?

Apparently, the problem seems connected to the anti-spam features in Drupal. So, anytime someone tried to post spam or a known spammer tried to sign up for an account, it caused a hiccough which threw an error which, sometimes, hung the processor which knocked over another domino and so forth.
It being the weekend, there's been a lot of spam. Piper has taken an ingenious route to a solution to this problem and we may have a handle on it now.

Happened a lot to me this morning (uk). I would say 4 out of five times all morning. Are you being targeted?

No more than usual
Starting late Thursday sometimes through Monday morning, the site gets hit by spammers and hackers sometimes hundreds of times a minute. Our firewalls get most of those but the ones that get through are caught by other software. It's one of those pieces of software that does not work well with the new configuration.
Piper is taking Amy to the doctor right at the moment, regular appointment non-emergency, so Cat and I are holding the fort down while she is on the road and sitting in waiting rooms with only her tablet.

The service errors were alright but the captcha and refusal to accept a new blog is a pain.

redirection?
After getting to the normal preview page and clicking "submit" a blank submission page comes up again. It happened to both a regular story submission page and a blog submission page.
I guess its just a simple bit of redirection, doesn't seem too major just a small pain.

problem with posting
It seems,, or what I saw was when posting a new story, the first preview worked, but then I got a page that came up with a button that asked if I was a robot, once past that I was redirected to a blank new posting page.

Okay
I think that was what is technically called a glitch. :) The site probably went down and came back up in the middle of that. We'll watch for the problem though.

still doing it :(
Just tried again, after the preview i made some adjustments and I hit preview once more then got the blank page again.
Also tried a 2nd time and only hit the save button and still the same results

Still getting errors,
but they are intermittent. I tried editing a comment at 3:40PM Dallas time and couldn't. 5 minutes later I could.
Then when I hit save on this post I got another. Next try it went through.

Multiple times tonight, most recently five minutes ago.
Clear your cache
That's most likely a browser problem, you ran into a glitch and your browser is serving up the same error page you got before.
We've rolled back to a more stable version of the configuration for now and piper will work on it more tomorrow. There are problems with this version but it does seem to have fewer connection issues.
