Cavendish takes his third stage win of this year's TdF to lie second only to Merckx in the number of stage wins at the tour. With his form as it is, who knows if he might even overtake that one day. He may not be Britain's greatest cyclist in some people's eyes but he has to be the most successful in terms of number of wins.

Yes, I heard

Yes, I heard he passed Bernard Hinault today and only Merckx still ahead. However my local TdF / cycling experts (Dutch national radio) thought it unlikely he would ever get that far.
We'll see, here's hoping he proves them wrong.

Will bite them back! It will be some time before anyone else gets even close, I wouldn't expect it this year but Cav is good for several more tours so there's every possibility.

I am hoping he keeps things

I am hoping he keeps things up, it's good to see you a Nd Maddy so excited!

I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime

May there be many more...

And according to some race commentators ... ALL of Cav's stage wins have been on the 'Road' - ending in a sprint, whereas the previous holders of the most Tdf stage wins title each have a combination of 'Road' and 'TT' stage wins - mostly 'TT'. I think that in itself, says a lot.

Greg Lemond

I only know one cyclist, Greg Lemond. If all cyclists were as forthright as him, cycling would be a much better sport. Greg is extremely generous. A few years ago he donated time to a special event held by a non-profit I founded. He made the event fun and extremely successful.

And a man who kept riding when, well, not so much the bottom falling out of his world but...

Three Times ...

Mark Cavendish has faced Greipel, Kittel and Sagan. Three times, he's won! I guess that makes him the fastest man on two wheels. Nobody can doubt him.

And, Number 2 on the all time victory list, too. Fanastic!

Well done, Mark Cavendish
