Random solos

On the Home page is a box marked Random Solo. I find it quite useful for randomly selecting one of the solo stories. Similarly, there is another box marked 12 Random Authors, again another way of browsing the authors on this site. Refreshing the Home page will produce another random selection of one solo and 12 authors.

I was wondering whether there was any easier way of randomly browsing stories and authors. Refreshing the whole of the Home page seems a bit top heavy, particularly since on my iPhone, the listings are well down the page.

For example, when I do a search on a category, wouldn't it be possible to chose a random order of presentation, rather than always defaulting to most recent first. The problem with that is that I've read all the newer stories; the older stories are just as good as newer ones, but it's labour intensive to scroll to some point in history. Chronological order also means you can get bogged down in a boring list of successive titles which are part of a series. xxx Part 99, xxx Part 98, xxx Part 97 etc. for several pages at a time. If one could select randomly, this wouldn't be a problem.

There is such an incredible list of great stories on Big Closet. It seems a pity that almost everything is geared to presenting only the most recent.

Sorting Solos

If you click on the More Solos link in the Randome Solos box now, you will find the sort is no longer most recent at the top. :)

I thought I'd tried that

Thats strange! I tried that and it seemed to come out in chronological order. Maybe it was just coincidence.

Thanks for that.

You could have got a cached page

Everything is on the cloud now so what you get may not be what is actually available but what the cloud decides to give you. Force a reload with your browser.

Of course, if you're searching for a story about a bicycle, you might find yourself bogged down in a boring list of successive titles like XXXXX part 2197, XXXXX part 2196, XXXXX part 2195, etc. for pages at a time.
