I wrote my first story yesterday, because I had an idea stuck in my head for it. I thought it would get maybe ten or fifteen reads, but I was surprised and delighted that people cared about what I wrote. Not only did it get attention, but I found I liked it. That story was my first try at writing something outside of a assignment for school. I realized I loved writing that story, because it was something I cared about. I'm working on a second story and might continue my first. Writing also helps me pass time, I got lost writing earlier for two or three and felt so alive. It was like I was living through my characters life! I want to think everyone who commented and read my first story weather the comment was positive feedback or criticism.

Congratulations! You've taken your first steps into a larger world. And discovered that writing can indeed be a joy rather than a chore.

Welcome to our world

Beware, it could become addictive. I wrote my first story when I was 14 and, Real World commitments permitting, never stopped since.

Your first few stories will be driven out of you by an intense desire to put your hopes and fears down on (virtual) paper. After that, you should mellow into a period where you will consider wider themes and take a more relaxed approach to writing.

Welcome to our world!

It's Said. . ..

. . .to write effectively you must simultaneously live in the minds of all your characters AND your reader's mind. You must also remain above the noise to judge how each reacts to all the others.

It's amazing to watch how some of the better writers on this site accomplish this.
