Well, Kylie and I are making a story together. It is a new thing for me, collaborative writing. It is fun, though, and I cant wait to see what comes out.

Collaborative Writing

Creating a story in cooperation with another writer can be a great deal of fun, provided of course you find the right person to work with. Having done so with several writers, both here and else where, I have had both good experiences and not so good experiences.

When things click between the co-authors of a story, the sum of the results is often greater than the combined parts each contribute. Like minded people with shared values and styles who bring their own unique experience and thoughts to the table play off of each others contributions, ideas and suggestions. It is rare that complete and seamless harmony is achieved, but it does happen from time to time.

A word of advise, if I may. Before pitching head long into the project, do take the time to make sure you and your co-author agree on some basic ground rules to include who does what, what each expects from the other, the manner in which you will cobble your individual contributes into a single, seamless volume and how you intend to work out your differences, of which there will be more than a few. Some serious no BS discussions on those topics up front will avoid acrimony, tension and hurt feelings later on when one or both of you hit a speed bump in the middle of your story. While 'winging it' is one way of doing things, all too often it is a prescription to disaster.

I wish you both the best of luck in your endeavors. I look forward to seeing the finished product.
