Creative slump ... sort of :-)

Wow, where the heck did my last two weeks go? Sorry everyone. I know quite a few are waiting anxiously for updates to Becoming Robin and Boys Don't Cry. I hit a bit of a creative slump lately. It's not that I don't know what I want to write; more like how to do the stories justice.

Back during writing near the end of Book Two there were times when I would write just to write. There were passable chapters with high points, but some of it just felt like it wasn't up to my usual quality, and I'm trying to avoid doing the same thing to both Book 3 and BDC.

I know that chasing perfection is like chasing a rainbow; you can spend your entire life doing it, but all you'll get in the end is sore feet, but that doesn't mean we, as people, should give up entirely on improving ourselves, or in my case as an artist, that I should just "phone it in" because the heat's getting to me ^_~

Now that said I do have some neat ideas for unconventional (outside my usual vein of writing, anyway) short stories, including a Trek fanfic using original cast that I might try and write to shake the cobwebs, so if something pops up from me that isn't BRB/BDC-related, don't panic! :-D

Anyway, I just wanted to post a quick little update and let everyone know I'm okay, just in another artistic low at the moment. :-)

Love,
~Zoe

I love your work, Zoe

I love your work, Zoe.

Since you write for love rather than money, do what you love and take the time to produce the quality writing of which you are so justifiably proud.

When you get published and become an obscenely rich and famous author of popular fiction, and your publisher and fans expect six new novels a year, then you can "phone it in". Like all too many of them do.

Well

Well I can understand that I do somewhat hate that it is happening not that it ain't a valid reason but I am just so into the stories. I know everyone can have suggestions to try and get your juices flowing but sometimes those suggestions from other people don't work because it is something that wasn't your idea. But sometimes they can be just as helpful so if you get to a point where you can't get anything to shake loose then maybe you should open it up to your fans to try and help you out. But your a really good writer you do what you feel that you need to do so long as your fans aren't left in the dark about things it will be worth the wait.
