Just went to a local thrift store where no one pays much attention to what others are doing and tried on various pant sizes. 30" mens relaxed fit slip off my waist and sit around my crotch, 29" mens relaxed fit compress my hips and still want to slip off my waist, just can't with the hip compression going on.
Sizes 4-6 womens though... depending on style, are almost perfect. There was this pair of size 5 skinny jeans that were practically molded for me...
Now, I can't of course know that particular style's waist and hip, but the "typical" for a size 5 is supposed to be 26" waist and 36" hips according to wikipedia... whose accuracy may be questionable.
According to wikipedia, me being in a juniors size makes a fair bit of sense though, as I also seem to have a high bust, and I'm 5'4.5".
You know, I've always been a little bit pudgy, due to the depressions I've fought for so long, maybe this feminine physique was always hiding under all that adipose.
I -thought- I was fairly fit masculinely once, but perhaps I wasn't really, since I never actually went through a proper weight loss regime and went straight to toning like the dumb male I was pretending to be.
There's a problem though, junior and his twin brothers are very noticeable with the flat crotch of womens pant styles, and it's almost certain no one is going to mistake me for anything but a man wearing womens pants... I tried tucking my genitals and didn't have too much success.
Any tips would be welcome. Could always buy more shapers I suppose and just always wear shapers which seem to hold a tuck nicely, even encourages junior to invert himself most of the time.
I didn't actually buy anything at the thrift store, going to do that tomorrow before church at Target now that I have a fair idea of my size.

I may just stay "Drew", which while currently my male nickname, can also be a female given name, or I might go with Abigail, since that's the girl my mother always thought she'd have and didn't. Or so she thought.
Either way I go, my middle name would probably have to change - Lehi is rather obviously masculine, I would think.
Pattengale's alter-ego is going to be Abigail Lynn, which was to be revealed next chapter whenever I get it out... I could go with that too, though I already have a niece with that name, though her last name is different. That's really the main thing keeping me from choosing Abigail Lynn, I really kind of like it, but I'd be taking one of my nieces names and even though we've always been kinda close, I doubt she'd like that very much. To ask her would mean coming out to her...
Well, I'm probably going to take this slowly, for now, just getting pants in womens sizing, and if anyone asks, just tell em I can't help that my waist is slim and hips wide. Though I probably could - by letting myself get fat again, though with my current hormonal balance that might just make me go up in womens sizing lol.

I'd looked at that before, but...
Always felt they were too expensive. Glamour Boutique had them at a real steal just now though at less than $13 per gaff when you buy in sets of 2. Needless to say, I just stocked up.
What's your opinion on the V-string prosthetics? I know that one of those are REALLY expensive, but I should just need one and wash it in the tub with me when I shower/bath, and only use it for things like swimming.

At a hundred and seventy nine bucks... it better be darned sturdy. Luv, i would hate to see you invest that kind of money and not have a product that lasts. For peace of mind however, i would stick to a gaff, plus there are plenty of pages showing good tucking techniques. All i'm saying Abigail, is investigate carefully hunny... money is generally tight for us girls so invest wisely for your own happiness... Congratulations on starting your journey.

I'll just stick with the gaffs when they get here. Until then, I'll just have to put up with the grotesque bulge. Or use my shapers, which are in the wash now and as I've already said, work quite nicely as well - though they cover a bit more and would be harder to hide away than a gaff in any sort of style that bares any portion of thigh or midriff.
How are gaffs at staying hidden under a swimsuit and are they safe in a pool? I intend to do some swimming in femme if the local Y permits it. Going to need a full body suit anyways, since I don't intend on displaying my breast development for all and sundry.
And yes, I go swimming in the winter when I have access to indoor pools. Since I plan on getting a Y membership, that'll get me that access.

The wearing of women's clothing.
I think that I was wearing exclusively women's clothing by the mid 80s, perhaps earlier. Women's cotton work pants in a 8 or 10 gave me much more squating room. Women's cotton shirts were far more comfortable because of the softness of the fabric. It went on and on, but at that time, I did not actually connect it with what would follow.
There was a time when my waist was 28", but due to the effect of the psych drugs and my unknowing consumption of steroids for a couple years, my waist is now around 35".
Almost all my clothing came from JC Penny, but when the old management team retired, they really went down hill.
Keep in mind size charts are way out of date
Back in the 70s I was merely a teen yet still I was wearing what was called a 12 back then, according to size charts. To keep in perspective, modern jean cuts tend to be kinda loose and a number is just a number and I take a 5 myself now a days if it is below waist and it is a slim fit about the waist.
I do not have the biggest hips ( though they ARE there thank Goddess. I can take a 0 or a 1 in juniors from Penney's for certain short shorts and up to a 3 at worst in other places. I take a medium juniors cotton t-shirt top (7-9) comfortably, and to allow a small amount of shrinkage, so in that case I am true to size. Misses sizes have been not true to size for years unfortunately so I have a harder time getting dress pants in my size as I tend to swim in them most of the time.
Every maker is different as well. I was trying on Jessica McClintock party dresses recently and 6 was still having me worry about the dress slipping around and the 4 was tight enough to hold me in without having to worry about a 'wardrobe accident' :) Then there are the 'Premiere Designer' gowns sizes used by some Designer Gowns where I had to take a 2. Ridiculous. I am nowhere skinny enough to be a 2.
These are modern sizes mind you, a consequence of how obese our country is getting as sadly if I were to still go my the sizes of my youth I would be no smaller than a 10 or just maybe a tight 8. Never go by the label!
