I wonder if anyone can help?

A few years ago someone was asking about a story and one of the replies had a link to a story which I read, and liked. Now I'm trying to find that story among my huge archive of downloaded material. I can't recall the author but I have a vague recollection that the title may have been something like 'What I did on my Summer Vacation'.

The story was about a young man, still in school, who travelled alone by Greyhound Bus to visit some relatives in another state. During the journey he is mistaken for a girl and there is an attempted sexual assault by an ex-con. Once at his destination, and after discovering that his suitcase has been misplaced, his female cousins trick him into cross-dressing and as a result he later is persuaded to audition at a local TV station for a vacant Weather Girl slot for the length of his vacation. From there he/she is eventually promoted to co-anchor of the evening news programme. Eventually, after a brief return to his home state he and his mother decide to move so that he/she can take the co-anchor position permently. I'm not sure but I think he takes the name 'Ashley James' for his female personna.

Does this ring any bells? I'd really like to read the story again and it's bugging me that I can't find it among my huge archive. I really must work out a better filing system for my archive.

Thanks in advance.

John.

Great Story

I've read it three times last year alone. It's a great story and well written. Enjoy it.

You're Welcome.

It really is a great story Stanman, that's why it stuck in my mind and also why it bugged me so much that I couldn't recall enough about the title and author to find it in my archive. I hate losing a good story among the oh so many writings I have on file.
