Sorry I've been distracted by my fridge turning up its compressor or whatever happens to deceased cooling units. I had to dash out an order a new one as well as cough up the readies to pay for it. Amazingly, my freezer is still working, so in that regard it could be worse, but the new one won't arrive until Sunday morning - so bang goes my lie in.

I'm also trying to cope with a painful left shoulder and elbow, probably arthritic in origins but at times a real nuisance and distraction. I try to not let it prevent me doing anything and did several hours decorating on Saturday and the same riding my bike on Sunday, but it does get to me now and again. Work seems to be increasing exponentially and if I could do without sleep, life would be less stressful, sadly I can't, so I do get a bit wound up, the cats pressing my buttons whenever they sense a chance - they don't take prisoners.

I've a late finish tomorrow, Tuesday, and I'm out on Thursday - a colleague is retiring - so this week my time for writing is going to be limited. Apologies in advance, but I do lead a busy life beside scribbling for this site.

Fridge

When my fridge/freezer died, I got a replacement from 'Appliances Direct' online. they delivered free the next day and charged only a tender to dispose of the duff one.

Unusual.

Fridges don't go wrong very often. We're on our second since we married 46 years ago and only replaced the first because we wanted a larder fridge (without a freezer compartment) so you're unlucky. About the only household appliance I haven't needed to repair at some time. Probably setting a hostage to fortune there.

At least you're getting out on your bike. I don't suppose our year long winter has helped the arthritis. I've hardly turned a pedal this year. I'm dreading the agony of regaining a modicum of fitness. It was easier when I was commuting and HAD to ride every day.

I'll miss my daily 'Bike' injection but you do what you need to do. I'll manage ... somehow :(

Keep well

Understand life

not nice having major appliances die. Take care of yourself and your personal life. We'll survive (barely). Thanks for the blog entry.

I 'think'

Yes, I actually do occasionally think... But, what I was trying to say was I think there are worse things to lose than a fridge... (Though losing the contents can suck, too.)

I recall returning home from a visit to the in-laws quite a few years ago - to discover a pool where our basement used to be... (Okay, not really a pool, but I did end up vacuuming 140 gallons of water (after I turned off the water to the house)... Turn out our hot water heater sprung a leak. Oy... Not Fun!

As to painful joints... I feel for you. Best wishes on a recovery and easing of the pain.

Thanks for all you've written for us.

Know that pain!

The day I left home to go have my open heart surgery, my water heater burst literally five minutes before I walked out the door. I didn't come back home for six weeks. GOK the mess I'd have had to face if it had ruptured ten minutes later.

I appreciate the shortage of time

I've been working on a way to get one more day between Wednesday and Thursday without losing sleep. I'll post it here when I get it worked out.

Really love Bike and everything else you write.

Much Love,

A wonky appliance and sore

arm/shoulder are more important than any Bike chapter.
