Sisters!
DSC_2066.jpg

The wonderful photo above was taken by Sharon Wohlmuth for Sisters, a collaborative effort with Carol Saline. Published in 1994 and updated in 2004 for a reunion edition, it features sets of sisters, including Coretta Scott King and her sister, as well as Chris Evert, along with non-celebrities, along with twins and even three sisters who are all in law-enforcement.

It's a beautiful book, of course, but what makes it extra special is that Mrs. D. bought at the used book sale at one of our local libraries. She noticed the article that accompanies the photo above. The young lady on the left is Janice Coffey. Her older sister Elizabeth Coffey is a male-to-female actress who has appeared in several movies by John Waters. Mrs. D. saw the picture and noted how precious it was, making sure I knew the story behind Elizabeth and Janice.

She also discovered another book at another library, Golden Boy by Abigail Tarttelin.

It was one of those review editions that publishers send to bookstores and libraries. The book is a fictional account of a fifteen-year old boy in England who has a secret that only his parents and doctors know; he's intersexed. Through a series of events and actions by others, his secret is exposed to a few people with some very sad but ultimately redemptive consequences. Mrs. D. saw the blurb on the back about Max being intersexed and got the book for me. "This looks like something you'd like." I've had the opportunity to correspond with Ms. Tarttelin and she's been very encouraging about my own 'journey.'

Little steps.

At Least You're Finally Getting Recognition

Your wife is perhaps at long last recognising that there is another deeper side to you. Maybe after all these years she may be able to come to terms with the 'Drea we here know and love. Here's hoping....fingers crossed,

Joanne

Thank you,'Drea,

You have crossed a few bridges with those 'little steps',lovely.

Fantastic

Dear Andrea

This is a fantastic post. Mrs. D loves you. We know she loves the man she married. Hopefully, she is beginning the process of discovering Andrea, and can begin loving her.

Hey Drea,

My little sister! Your blog was great to read! I don't know about you and GRS, but do you think you could dress sometimes? Like get "permission" and all, but on the condition of just dressing while Mrs. D is not home. Just dressing could be very stress relieving and might help with your various health problems.

Thanks for the PM the other day. I'm hanging in there, or here, or whatever and trying to do what i can.

Hugs and Bright Blessings,
Renee
