New Feature @ TGFiction dot Net

Printer-friendly version

So yesterday, when we were stuck waiting on the data-center to do their share of things, I finished the initial installation of a NEW feature for TGFiction dot Net.

Some of you may have noticed mention of it in the StoryPortal Fiction Network blogs, but in case you didn't.... You can now upload Microsoft Office Open XML Format (.docx) files and have them auto-converted to HTML.

The system seems to work best with REAL documents created by MS Office and not those created by Open Office, or Google Docs, and even then, it is really EARLY Alpha level code. You will probably need to do a LOT of editing with our GUI editor to get your Bold/Italics, Headings and Images just right, but it's a start.

We hope to continue to develop the underlying software over time to include not only other file formats for upload, but also better support .docx including all Lists, attributes and even Images.

Our hope is to make TGFiction dot Net the EASIEST site to upload a story too!

So if you are looking for another site to share your stories via, why not head on over to TGFiction dot Net and give it a WHIRL!

It’s done the same as if you were uploading a TXT file, or a HTML file for our site. If you have not already done so, please register for an account. Once you’ve logged in, click on Account Information and choose Add Story. The form presented there will allow you to submit your story. Just look for section labeled “Story Text (file): ” and click the “Browse” button, and then find your document on your HDD.
