Now if only.....

They would enforce the same thing regarding employment, health insurance, housing, etc.........

But at least it's another step in the right direction!

This IS really good...

This IS really good news... The only down side is that another administration could appoint folks which caused a reversal of the interpretation...

And, nothing stops someone from trying to get the courts to rule - with hopes the Supreme Court won't side with the wierdos... *sighs*

I really hope a lot of good comes from this! There IS a chance!

Big Things Start with Small Steps

Look what happened after Obama made his announcement about same sex marriage.

On the other hand, look what happened when Barney Frank threw us under the bus. We could have had the same equality extended to GLB long ago.

At the end of the day Obama is a politician. His movements are based on reading the tea leaves of populist approval.

For what it's worth...

Discrimination against trans people takes many forms.

One example - that many may not be aware of... New Jersey has laws protecting trans people. However, until recently you couldn't get GRS/SRS/pick your acronym in state because no hospital would let it happen, unless the surgeon was a urologist. (The hospitals still won't let it happen, but one surgeon built his own facility and is now performing the surgeries here.)

So - as we gain more protections, it's important to be aware that some find other ways to work to take it away.
