For those of you who have been following my blog for the last week know I've been doing some kind of weird experiment on Amazon.

The Goal: Take one of my worse selling books and get it ranked in the top 100 overall book sold

Result: FAILURE

Methodology: The plan was to do a major one day push in order to force a lot of sales in a tiny window. The way Amazon works, that can propel you into the top 100 no matter where you start. I started the experiment with Wrestling Against Myself ranked 360,000th + and without a sale in 2 weeks. I was going to use paid advertising with a facebook push. Unfortunately, a misleading email made me believe that my major advertiser was going to run my promotion on the 5/5 when I had asked to reschedule to the 8th. They did reschedule, but the 5th was automatically sent (there was a reason the date needed to be changed that was on Amazons end). So the facebook and ads were run separately and I think that hurt.

Here is a two week snapshot of sales. As you can see, poor sales prior (I think I actually had one in there ) the first boost is my facebook blitz. The second boost is advertising.

Here are the current results as of posting and I assume I will start the slow descend because I haven't learned how to maintain sales quite yet.

As you can see, I am ranked number 1 in Juvenile sports fiction and 43 in thrillers. The thrillers is actually the bigger deal because it is the bigger genre. I didn't get an author ranking like I did last time.

But, I hope this is an eye opener to those selling on Amazon, or thinking of doing. If you write to a broader audience, you can have greater success. I might try to do this on an erotica title to see what happens with OEM (which maybe should be considered more a romance).

I will field all questions.
