A way of introduction - and some news

Blog About:

Greetings fellow Big Closeteers,

Let us introduce ourselves, we are Lavender Rose Press, an imprint of Doppler press that specializes in real world fiction and biographies. We know that a lot of authors would like to publish on Amazon and get paid for their work but really have little knowledge of how to make that happen. Sure, a lot of people can figure out formatting and get a work available for sale, but a lot of people struggle with editing, formatting, marketing, getting reviews, getting exposure, running promotions etc. and that's where we come in. We are looking for novel length works (60,000 words or more) that are based in the real world. Themes can be wide and varied but this imprint will stay away from the magical/sci-fi transition and focus on issues common to transgender people. We are looking for stories about transition, self-discovery, finding acceptance, etc. We are also looking for biographies and autobiographies.

Let us help you be the author you know you could be.

You can submit manuscripts and queries to [email protected] our website is coming soon.

now for some news ---

We have discovered a way to post our novels and not upset Amazon so authors can get the most exposure that they can. By serializing novels, we can post them on the site on a limited time basis and hopefully garner interest and reviews for those unable to make purchases. Starting tomorrow we will start posting Wanda Cunningham's Kelly Girl as we celebrate our first author. We also have signed Tom Peashey to a deal and will be posting his A Dani Affair for your enjoyment in celebration of the third book of the series being listed.

If you know of any author who fits our criteria, send them our way or let us know who and we may just contact them. We hope that this venture will go a long way in providing financial stability in keeping this site running for years to come while increasing the visibility and quality of transgender fiction that is for sale.

Thank you,

Lavender Rose

Lavender Rose question

Why wasn't this introduced by Erin, rather than appearing to have been placed by someone who has set up a user name Lavender ... etc. etc. and so forth.

I suppose I have been bitten so many times that now I am EXTREMELY gun-shy about things which seem to be too good to be true.

Hi there

This was introduced by Erin in answer to a blog which you can find here http://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/blog/50849/thanks-my-authors-a... hers is the first response.

The reason why Lavender Rose has a separate screen name is to keep site issues separate from the publishing arm of things. As you can imagine, having a publishing company takes more than one person to run things; you have editors, graphic designers, PR people, etc. This account was made so things didn't merge where they shouldn't and shouldn't be confusing.

But, by all means, message Erin to make sure everything is on the up and up. I know I would. This was just the most logical step to take as Big Closet grows and some authors seek to become commercial while using BC as a stepping stone.

A Lavender Rose by any other name...

Lavender Rose is an imprint of Doppler Press, it's for reality-based fiction and biographies and the managing editor is Katie Leone. We will have other imprints when they make sense for other genres and we will probably have other managing editors, too. :)

There will be websites and other presences soon but we've been working on this for about two months and it gets harder and harder to keep quiet. :)

Hugs,
Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Thank you for the clarification

I subscribe to "Writer Beware" and between what I have seen listed in their posts and the events I myself have encountered over the past ten years I hope you understand why I was reluctant to accept at face value something which normally is posted by you (Erin) before any other post occurs.

I am a commercial writer and the number of people preying on what they believe are naive writers is unbelieveable. Let us know when the fiction arm arrives (with a warning, hopefully, from Erin). I am working on several things (as time permits) which could go there and Last of the Fey could also go there (I have recently pulled it from Amazon-Kindle).

EDIT: Oops, I meant 'fantasy arm' not 'fiction arm'. Other than biography or autobiography it's all fiction.
