Drug Withdrawal

Blog About:

Well nuts ! I asked the Doctor to put me on some anti-depressant, and what a ride it has been ! Tunnel vision, single ear loss of hearing, drowsyness, and nymphomania. NOT!

They side effects are so strong, she told me to stop the drug. She warned me about withdrawal and said it could be quite strong. Ye Haw ! Maybe I'll go have a few beers and ride the Bull?

To those who skype with me, the dang thing won't work. :(

Been there

I'm sorry, I've been there and it's not pretty. ADD meds are pretty bad too.

Have delightfully devious day,

So have I. I was on Xanax in

So have I. I was on Xanax in high school when my doctor decided to have me stop it cold turkey. I went through one horrible week of withdrawal. I thought I wasn't going to make it.

my 2 cents worth

I figured I would add my story of withdrawal to this too. In 1974 I finally broke my addiction to alcohol, it took over a week of shakes vomiting and seeing some weird stuff. Had it not been for my loving wife I wouldn't have made it to where I am approaching 40 years of sobriety. Thanks Winna ... I loved Jim Beam bourbon to a bottle a day( fifths not pints)so I am living proof it can be done.

Try different ones

When I was first diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, my doc gave me Amytriptiline, which basically sent me to sleep until 5pm every day. As I didn't want to be a Zombie, I persuaded him that this wasn't a good idea.

The next thing was Venlafaxine, which allowed me to feel reasonably normal but started taking over my muscles... it's disconcerting when your arm starts moving around of its own accord.

The third go was Gabapentin and that didn't seem to have any obvious side effects. However, after a few months I realised that I had adapted to it and I wasn't getting any good effects either. I talked it over with the doc and decided to taper off and take nothing, which is how I have been ever since.

Of course, I'm now on four other drugs for totally different reasons... I guess that's the price of being "mature".
