So why is Erica Jane so wacky? (UPDATED)

Printer-friendly version

Lately, you'd think I was bi-polar from some of my posts. I'm not.

I do have some very serious medical and financial problems.

The stress makes me crazy. I don't know. Maybe I'm (to borrow a phrase from Lt. Eckhart in Tim Burton's Batman) "drinkin' drano."

I don't want to talk about the financials. But I need to talk about some of this. I don't have any friends left in the real world.

Healthwise... Here goes. Keep in mind, I just turned 47 a little over a week ago.

Physical:
- I have occasional chest pains, they're pretty sure it's heart related
- I have a numb spot on the right side of my face which includes the skin over the cheekbone and reaches up around the orbit of my eye. Possibly from a micro-stroke.
- hypothyroidism
- diabetes w/complications (neuropathy in feet and legs, kidney damage, slow healing)
- burst disc at bottom of spine, can't stand or sit for long periods of time (I get intense shooting pains from my back down through my right thigh)
- tendinopathy in my left shoulder
- high blood pressure
- recurring migraines
- severe heat intolerance (earlier this summer I passed out while walking in 80 degree weather)
- some days I need a cane to get around with
- mild arthritis in both hands

Mental:
- anxiety
- depression
- dysphoria

I'm currently trying to get disability coverage so I don't lose everything.

This site, and you people and your stories help me get through each day. I can't thank you enough for that.

Just when I get a little wacky, bear with me... Okay?

I just want everyone to know that I am under medical care. I'm almost to the point of filing bankruptcy because of it.

Also, thank you for the kind kind words. It means a lot. *hugs*

Ouch

I have my own problems, so I certainly understand.
You have my sympathy and support, and, unless I miss my guess, that of many others here as well.

Quite a list!

That's some list of ailments, darlin'.

Do you live in the U.S.? If so, then apply for Social Security Disability but use an attorney. Look for one that limits his/her charges, though. I tried it on my own and got refused. Filed an appeal and got refused again. Found an attorney that said she would handle it for 25% up to a maximum of $5,000. Two months later she called me to pick up my check. I had been paid back all the way to the first application date. The check I got was quite large even after she took her $5,000.

Then, again, when my wife applied, she got approved the first time around without an attorney.

Who knows what's going to happen with the government involved. Right? Anyway, good luck and I hope you get everything to need to help you feel better in the very near future. Do look into that limited-payment attorney. It's incentive for them to win quickly and not drag it out for a bigger paycheck like so many do to people that really need it a lot.

Hugs,
Erica

There are some things you can do for your health, right now.

I have a few suggests that might help you. Little things that will add up to helping you more.

Migraines can be stress induced, from pain and discomfort.

If you have a mini-stroke, there is not much that can be done. But, if all your problem on that is slight numbness in your face, just count yourself lucky, and worry about the things you can fix.

Get very serious about you with what you eat and drink. That will help the diabetes, complications for the diabetes, any heart problems, and your high blood pressure. There are books on this you can buy. But, you have to stay on top of this.

Hypothyroidism can be control with cheap medication. You need to go to a doctor to get advise on this. Also, have you iodine level checked, that can cause hypothyroidism.

And even though you have anxiety, depression, dysphoria, you have to force yourself to calm down and mentally relax, as much as possible. This will help with high blood pressure, and heart issue. Stress can cause heart problems. Also, this might help your migraines.

Also, finger pulse/oxygen monitors, and blood pressure kits are not expensive. Invest in them, so you can monitor you own vital signs, a few times a day, so you can create a daily record for you doctors.

Your severe heat intolerance is likely tied to your other problems. Work on your other problems, and this problem might start to diminish.

Buy and ergonomic keyboard, that might help you hands.

Use a cane, all the time. Not just when you feel like it. And use it with your right hand. That will prevent problems with you left shoulder. And by using a cane all the time, you it will relieve stress on your back. This can only help you in the long run.

And if your back is this painful, get a four legged cane, because a simple cane might slip when you are using it. You do not want to have a fall in the health condition you are in.

If you have family. Ask them for help now. Because, you sound like you are real close to deaths door. You have real risk factors for an early death. You need to get personal help and now. You may have to cut you losses and move back in with someone. And in this economy, that is completely understandable.

Finally, good luck. And please keep us updated.

More huggles

I wish had some kind of magic advice that would make it all better, but I don't. You do have my biggest and most gentle of huggles.

Wow. So sorry to hear, but glad you're not bottling it all up.

I wish I had pearls of wisdom or a winning lottery ticket or something to actually help in this difficult time.

(Rummaging through my purse one more time. sigh...still nothing but coins, keys and kleenex.)

All I can offer is the hope & prayer that very soon this will be the time you look back on and think "Well, this isn't nearly as bad as THAT" and find comfort and consolation.

Prayers and warmest thoughts.
