an old tale

There's a story over at Nifty that has for years been one of my favorites, maybe because it was one of the first TG stories i ever read. It's epic in length totaling at 3,421 KB, a monster story far as size goes. I go back about once every 2 years or so and spend about 3-4 days re-reading it. But for all these years...I've been trying to contact the author so that i can get permission to re-write/edit and repost the tale. I've of course e-mailed him, no dice... and i've tried tracking him down to no avail.

Idols

Earlier today i was listening to some music, and i got to thinking. When i was a kid my childhood Idol was Madonna. Now obviously as a young boy there was no way in hell i'd ever admit to that! So i declared Kenny Rodgers as my hero (though i thought Dolly Parton and the Judd's were more to my liking).

In the last few years another woman has climbed to the top, but people began to compare her to my Idol Madonna! Needless to say NO ONE compares to Madonna... right? So on the spot i made up my mind to hate her (like any fool would).

Gremlins

*sigh*

I haven't written anything for a while, why?

Hummm, well first of all i was bitten by a Star Wars bug. I was writting a story that was up to 60,000 words. I mean i was on a roll... the story just poured out of me. I know the Star Wars genre hasn't really been seen here on BC, and that's 1/2 of what got my muse going in the first place.

Then someone somewhere sent me a cute little gremlin, he was cute and fuzzy and cuddly and totally had it out for my computer.

Yes... i was forced to reformat with 60,000+ words written.

talk about a complete downer.. *sigh*

Holes

Just some thoughts of mine...

When i wrote my prologue for my first story here, I of course watched the comments roll in. I was actually surprised at the number of comments a simple prologue on a story that hadn't even been told yet, written by an author no one had heard from before, had received. Naturally the comments were a mix of Good/Bad. I did expect a few bad remarks, and one or two i felt i did deserve. But what got me the most i think were when the commenters tried poking holes in the story. One even went as far as to say that i had written in haste.
