No Twice Removed this week

I had a good portion of the new chapter of Twice Removed written but I decided I didn't like what I wrote and that it wasn't consistent with what I want to do later in the story. Between that and some major depression I probably won't be posting it this week while I try to get my head straight and work on editing the first ten chapters of Raven's Blood for a bit of a break before getting back to Twice Removed and serials I need to post chapters of.

Thanks for your patience,

Amethyst

Stolen Stories

A few years ago there was an issue with Authors on this page having their stories stolen. And, sure enough, when I went searching, I found "MS Frankenstein" on a pay site. When I confronted them, the story disappeared, probably just to another pay site.

So, the issue is in the news again. It just makes me shake my head.

What is courage?

What is courage? Is it that thing that causes a soldier to rush a heavily occupied enemy fort, knowing he might die in the attempt? Is it that thing that causes someone to do the right thing even though it might hurt them? Is it making the right decision for oneself, knowing that all the other choices presented are worse in the long run?

Taking a break

Later on today I will post my story "The Stranger at the Table" and then I am going to seriously cut back on the time I spend online. I am going to be starting Phenom later today (the fourth book in the God Bless the Child saga) and also working on a biography, so it's not like I'm taking a break from writing.

Bike

Sorry folks, it's got too late for me to write tonight - fell asleep in the chair after doing a long bike ride today (long for me that is) with several climbs. I didn't sleep very well last night either, so hopefully, things will be back to normal tomorrow and Bonz can dictate the next exciting episode of Dormice in Space, or whatever it's called.

Tech question ?

I have a question involving the internet and there are people around here who seem knowledgeable. The small business I work at has been having trouble with the internet, being unable to bring up a page or access different things. We called the company that provides us with internet to find out what was up, and they said we were starting to max out our bandwidth. It seems what we have with them is a T1 and they said our company must have out grown it's original needs when it was first installed, and would we like to buy some more?

A Very Sad Day

I had to go to Wal-Mart a few weeks ago because I can get some things there at a better price. Wal-Mart is never an enjoyable experience, but I endure it. As I was leaving with my stash I heard a voice to my left. "Sir, I will give you a hundred dollars if you will take me to the VA Hospital." He was in his thirties, close cropped hair, and he had a severe limp. His head was scarred. He was thrusting a hundred dollar bill in my direction. He had a large suitcase on rollers. I knew immediately that he was the real thing.

Disappointed and Upset

I try really hard to put out stories that haven't been done before. I know there are a lot of people who want escapism and fantasy, but there are thousands of stories that fit that niche. I write reality, for the most part, trying to give voice to a segment of society that really doesn't have much to say in fiction. I tend to stay away for masturbatory fodder or the man in disguise motif. For the most part, I have been more commercially successful than most transgender authors, having the ability to appeal outside the narrow confines of the community.

La Donna é Mobile, or I changed my mind (again)

I was never happy with the title of one of my recent stories. I've fussed over this for quite a while. I changed Howard, His Friend, and their Wonderful Journey to Howard and the Completed Pass. I think that's a much more fitting title, and it's a lot shorter. If you haven't read the story, please do. For those that have, nothing was changed in the content, but it's okay to read it again.

Descriptiveness in stories

So, I've resumed working on two Sci Fi stories right now that have been in the oven for three plus years. I've been preoccupied with other activities that are both thankless at times and hard work, and now I feel worn out and bitter.

I've returned to writing full time, and want these tales to be wonderful. In College when I was taking creative writing there were lots of admonishments to describe, describe, describe. And I can only think of a few authors here who do a passable job of that, though many of the stories are entertaining, and fun.

Just to let you know...

This is just an fyi to let you know I am ~650 words into the next chapter of 300 Rains. Trying to get to the end of this so I can focus on the professional work more without it hanging over head. Besides, I so totally want to know how it ends just as much as some of you do.

What's your writing song?

Everyone has heard of 'thinking hat' or 'writing desk', but has anyone heard of 'writing song'? Basically it's the song that you hear to get yourself upbeat and in the mood to write something. Or it can also be a song that inspires you to do more than without. As for me, while I have plenty of imagination, I can't get in the mood to write if I don't have my writing songs on.

Musings about reviews and reviewers.

In between visiting my father in hospital (he's not at all well. we got a call last night to prepare us for the worst) and rushing hither and thither, I spent an hour or so writing and checked my Amazon page for any more reviews. It always staggers me that so very few people ever bother to review a book they've read. I mean, I've sold 21,938 kindle books in the last three years and have received only 258 reviews (178 on Amazon.com and 80 on Amazon.co.uk). That's just over one percent. That means 21680 people couldn't be bothered to leave a review - even an anonymous one.

The Stranger at the Table

There is a new Katie Leone book available on Amazon and it is going to be a little bit before the next one comes out. I try to stagger longer works and shorter works in order to keep my sanity. I am still recovering from Unreachable but it is time to move on. Plus, I am also going to be doing the biography at the same time, so that will slow things up a little more.

Jessica's Revenge Chapter Breaks.

Due to what was likely a brain fart, I neglected to include chapter breaks in part of the story that I edited for Barbie. I have since corrected that error and I hope the story will be easier to read for everyone now. There are also a couple of spelling errors that snuck in under my radar. They were pointed out to me by a kind reader, but I have left them alone. They are very minor and do not really affect the telling of the story at all.

Shameless self-publicising

This is a shameless plug, yet again. Following a chat with a trans friend who is also an author, I looked up her work on the net and found the website 'goodreads', which is mostly a place for readers to comment on published works. It also gives authors a chance to put up a little about themselves.

Looking for a story didn't mark as a favorite after reading it. In the story there is a kingdom where on the birth of the prince he is given blessings by the daughters and is cursed by their mother after she wasn't invited too attend his celebration of birth birth birth. Her curse is such that he can't see any women until the are married and he must be married by a certain age yet he isn't able to see any female but a boy dressed up as one of the girls at a morning prayer he sees and falls for.

an old tale

There's a story over at Nifty that has for years been one of my favorites, maybe because it was one of the first TG stories i ever read. It's epic in length totaling at 3,421 KB, a monster story far as size goes. I go back about once every 2 years or so and spend about 3-4 days re-reading it. But for all these years...I've been trying to contact the author so that i can get permission to re-write/edit and repost the tale. I've of course e-mailed him, no dice... and i've tried tracking him down to no avail.

I went and saw Muppets Most Wanted. Like the other Muppet Movies it uses the shotgun approach to comedy, if you tell enough jokes some of them have to be funny. The more you know of current pop culture personalities, the funnier it will be.

Just to let people know, and I don't even know if people realized this, but the 2 missing pages of But, I am not a boy have been added. I hope that people take a look and comment and maybe leave a review on Amazon (I have absolutely none) of this important work. It is the first and only children's book written on a transgender subject by a transgender author (no offense to Jazz, but we know an adult wrote that).

So take a look and enjoy. There will be another post about something different tonight or tomorrow. I am sick and tired so I am going to hide in my bed and get well.

With hormone changes, has anyone experienced ...

any severe head-rushes when standing suddenly? I know my hormones are all messed up, but it's getting worse (I had my quarterly round of blood work), and in the past few weeks, if I stand suddenly, I get very light-headed. I've dropped like a stone once from nearly passing out, and occasionally, my limbs get tingly for a few moments. Has any one experienced this type of significant blood-pressure reduction when they were on Spiro to reduce male hormones? Or on E to supplement female hormones? Just to be clear, I am NOT on any hormones or Spiro.

Hugo boy or girl?

This is a really enjoyable film with a British boy actor Asa Butterfield and a young French actress Cloe Moretz. They sometimes could be sisters since he has such feminine features. She looked like his older sister and was slightly taller that made him seem even more girly.
It took me back to my early youth when I could easily have presented as a girl and when I had my first experiences. A lot of nice memories are locked inside and sadly no mobile phones or digital cameras. Who knows what would have happened if I knew then what I know now.

150,000 thank yous

I nearly gave up on posting tonight having spent an hour or so trying to get on site. Still my readers, though perhaps not as numerous as some authors have, are important to me, so I tried one last time...

It appears I now have 150,000 kudos, as I'm not allowed to give them to myself, then they must be given by others. My thanks to all who have clicked on the little button at the end of my story postings. Thank you x 150,000, please continue clicking on them, it's the only way I know readers like my stuff, unless they choose to comment as well.

Hugs to all,

Angharad

A boy named Jennifer?

Well, last night at work was rather interesting. For the last while I have been working on and off as night maintenance at work, and last night they asked me to train a new person for that job. When I met him, I was slightly curious to notice that his name tag said "Jennifer", even though he was not in any way feminine.

I asked him about the name, and he said his father had given it to him, and giving female names to male babies happened quite often in his country, the Philippines.

Editor needed...

Hey all, I'm still working on System, but I've found myself distracted lately. I've also been working on my "real life" story, but wound up scrapping most of it and starting over. After working on these stories (and other scrapped stories) alone, I've realized that I could really use some editing and creativity help (especially for the real life story). If you're interested, please message me

Ever have one of those days where you just want to slam your head into the wall? The past few weeks I've been running around trying to find another job since Home Depot fired me over injuring myself in an incident I could not avoid. when the incident happened I informed a manager as soon as I realized something was wrong and 4 days later I was fired. that was nearly a month ago.

One Year Ago

It was one year ago that I posted my first story hear, God Given Face. I'd really intended to have my next story ready to go for today, but I'm afraid I missed that deadline by a country mile. As I mentioned, I changed jobs and moved, and that cut out a lot more writing time than I'd originally planned. So, at best, next story will be late next month.

I'm sitting here totally shocked. I've been talking to Jaci and she told me that she's been talking to my mom, who apparently told her that she "didn't raise me as a boy." She went on to say she didn't force me to be a girl, either she just "raised me to be Dorothy." I really don't know where to put this piece of information. I'm ... just ... stunned ...

Yep, I'm going to go on a rant. I read where people join this site and are afraid someone will out them for actualy reading TG stories. OMG, you've got to be kidding. It's like every one you know goes right to Bigcloset and looks to see if someone they know is on the site, give me a break. In the first place, who gives a crap what you read and secondly this site is so way beyond being noticed that your friends could care less what you read. I know I'm being a jerk, but if I cared about what others thought I wouldn't be here in the first place.

Re-thinking an old anecdote...

My recent pregnancy dream got me thinking about something: When I was a teen, I had a gf and we had a mutual friend who later came out as gay. One day, and I think it was completely out of the blue, he asked, if one day we (me and my gf) were still together and decided to have kids, and if it were possible for me to have the pregnancy, what we would think about it. I said I wouldn't be interested, which was sincere but I also found the idea unsettling. He then mused that given pregnancy required massive doses of female hormones it would probably be a bad idea even if possible.

Another pregnancy dream

I dreamed the other night, for the second time in my life that I was pregnant, although I think I was still mostly male (I'm not sure what I was wearing, although I think it was a dress, and no idea what my genitalia were like) and I think had no breasts. I was frantically looking for a particular woman I wanted to ask for advice (why this particular woman I don't know irl and not any other woman who had been pregnant, I don't know - bizarrely, I pictured her naked - an attractive, curvy black woman).

Well, here I am once more able to read stories on BC/Top Shelf. I have been out of the country "many moons", as some of my ancestors might say. I was not in a position to be able to use my own laptop(not allowed, plus no signal strength where I was located), and I sure as heck was not going to be using a government one, except for my official duties. Since the Manning and Snowden "show", personal use is highly frowned on.
