Hi Everyone. There have been a few times when I was in a jam and the wonderful users here @ BigCloset have helped me out immensely. Whether it was helping me buy a new mattress/boxspring for Bill and I when we were stuck in a motel during the mold cleanup, or helping me setup a fund to get a vehicle and get my life back on track, and even helping us come up with the security deposit for the apartment we are in.

So it's now that I come to you with my hat in my hand, and my heart in my throat, asking for help once again.

We've been driving around in a 2000 Buick Lesabre for a little over a year now, and it's got a few problems that are just starting to get serious enough that we have to worry about.

The brakes are on their way out, the exhaust is all but falling off (I have to re-secure it with zip-ties periodically), there is a short on the in-dash lighting which means I can't see my gauges in the dark (and usually use my cellphone to get the readings I need to drive at night when I have to drive at night). The suspension is in bad enough shape, that ever time we hit even the smallest bump, I have to worry about the exhaust scraping, and pulling apart my zip ties that are holding it on.

Add to this, normal items of wear and tear like the tires are starting to wear down, the VATS system likes to lock the starter system even if I'm trying to start it with perfectly valid factory keys (Yes, we've tried cleaning the ignition and the keys themselves).

We've managed to make some room in our budget to purchase a used vehicle, a 2004, that will be safe, is in good condition, and will allow us some much needed room for carrying the many things we need to take with us when we head out with a baby (Pack and play, extra diaper bag, toys, misc server parts if I have to run to the servers, etc)

Our goal is a meager $1500 to help us with the down payment, which will help us keep our monthly payments low enough to be affordable.

Any amount you send will be greatly appreciated. You can send money to BC or Janglewood the normal ways (please leave a note that it's for the Down Payment fund) or you can send money directly to my P.A.Y.P.A.L.

My Email Address is [email protected]

Anyone wishing to send Checks or Money Orders, please PM me and I will give you an address and information about who to make them out to.

Thank you in advanced for all your help.

P*aypal seems to be having problems. . . or is it just me? (new laptop finally and new OS!)
Or: "Does my butt look fat in this. . . ." ;-)

OTOH, I also didn't know that you could send to another account using the Email address. . .

Update!

Hey Everyone, I wanted to thank you all whom have helped out so far. We've documented about $125 in contributions so far which is helping.

Please remember, that anything even $5 can help immensely if enough people do that same $5!

Another Update!

Piper's picture

Thank you everybody SO MUCH! Currently we are up to $585 towards the $1500 down payment I need to get a much needed vehicle upgrade.

Just for the interest on transparency I want to let you know that I'm not asking for everything I need to get into a new used car. I will still be responsible for the Tax/Title/Tags (around $600) and getting Full comp/Collision insurance on it, bound for the new vehicle (an extra $225 payment to my insurance company or so the quote says). I'm not looking for a complete handout here, but some help to get me where I need to be!

Paypal worked fine for me. I've been there before and it's no fun. I just sent a little something to help you, Piper.
Thanks for all you have done us.

PayPal worked just fine for me, so $30.00 should find its way to you.

Comment to editorial and history.

Sorry to post it here but given comments are disabled there I felt the need to post it.

I want to make this more a history for everyone. Corporations use to only being allowed to operate for the Public Good as the primary concern. When that decision was changed to shareholders this started the downward trend.
Directly addressing the topic, cheapness vs. customer service, a primary factor is too many Americans will look at the price before caring about the cost. In the end, as long as there is good customer service at a place people will eventually filter down there. Give it time Piper. Additionally more Americans are starting to lash back at so many things being made in China and finding things made here. While not always the case, I think it's more likely you will find some measure of customer service in this respect.
