Little Girl Found

Who are you, O little one,

the man asked the girl on the floor.

I'm the little girl you used to be,

until you left and walked out the door.

Why did you leave me,

the little girl asked

as the tears welled up in her eyes.

I didn't think that you'd mind, he said

at the one he had grown to despise.

Don't leave me I pled as you walked away

leaving me here in the dark.

I've become quite a person myself,

you see; finally leaving my mark.

I'm sorry he said if I left you alone

I oh so wished to remain.

But with no one to listen to me but you

I felt no one would hear me again.

I made the mistake of leaving you here

I believed what is false; not what's true.

That somehow you came and were quite something else

convinced that I was me and not you.

You left me before I could tell you my story;

and why God had sent me to be.

a part of your life and a blessing to you;

He gave that task only to me.

I'm part of you, the little girl said

as she continued to sit on the floor.

He shook his head NO as he backed away slowly

looking to walk through the door.

They're not bad as you think..they merely don't know

what makes us so special it's true.

Without each other we cannot exist;

Because you are me and I'm you.

He picked her up sadly filled with guilt and with shame;

I forgive you she said, no more lies!

They walked hand in hand as they passed through the door,

Each seeing through the other one's eyes.

I am quite complete the little girl said

and the man could finally agree;

How could I have lived without you he said

When I 've always been you and you me.

So it's all so simple and yet all so involved

depending so much on one's view.

I may not know quite what to expect, he said...

But in the end you are me and I'm you.

Little Girl Found

How sad that at times one will deny the truthabout themselves. But there is always time to accept yourself and become whole.

Very Touching and Heartfelt

Dear Sis,

That is a very touching poem, which I know comes from your heart as well as your pen and speaks volumes about you.

Perhaps the two of them can walk hand in hand forever, each gaining from the other the strengths they each have.

By accepting her companionship the man insures that the little girl will live as long as he. By accompanying the man she is sure to be there for him in his times of need.

They make the best of each other.

Morning Mom...

I thought I'd sneak up behind Gram to tell you what a wonderfully beautiful poem you wrote...yet again. There are so many different parts to each of us that we sometimes ignore the parts which are the most important of all. It would be you that reminds us in your very eloquent manner.

Why do I love you so?

Mia ducle sorella,

Time after time you rip my heart out, turn it upside down, shake it and then shove it back into my breast.

Still, you show me you, or show me me, or show you me, or something like that. Then I come back for more. Is it that I'm a masochist? Or am I trying to be whole and you are lovingly making me to look at who I am, and who I am becoming?

Thank you my sister.

Con amore,
Bettina

Wow, Drea!

Great Poem; it's really cool. So that's how it is.

Mine was like:

"Yeah, I know you've been here all along, every night, even if I usually tried to ignore and deny you.....

I'm sorry..... I'm really, really, sorry....

Yes. I know you've always been me! I know it's completely obvious!

I know...., I know..... I was just so scared.....

Love you so much, Sis!

Andrea,

You did it again. What a beautiful metaphore. By denying who we are, we are less than whole.

I hope I got that right.

The Self-Defeating Life...

This is powerful, my friend.

Perhaps no assault on anyone is so damaging as that which is made against oneself.

Parable from a zen buddhism.

Fine thing. Very much reminds parables from a zen buddhism. About unity external and internal, about unity of a yin and a Yang.

Hello, Joe

laika's picture

I can so relate. The lengths a lot of us have gone to in order to avoid seeing what's there in ourselves. A truth we'd rather not face,
trying to "doublethink" such an important part of us away. Afraid of something that turns out to actually good.
Another truthful and deeply moving poem, Drea...

I guess my mind is kind of strange, and because in my case evading the girl in me wasn't a one shot deal (She kept popping up!)
as I was reading this poem again I flashed on this old Tex Avery cartoon, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T5QpGzkL0h4&NR=1
...the part starting at about 2 minutes into it, that whole long absurd chase, except that I imagined the jailbird wolf as the conscious self,
male persona or whatever, and instead of Droopy he's running away screaming from a cute little girl in a pretty dress saying things like
"Hi, wanna play?" and "Gee Mister, why ya freaking out?" .....and some of the symbolism would be quite appropriate to a t.g. version
of this toon- the locking of a hundred doors, the coming apart at the seams, and our evasion & denial have almost the same
comic futility, because in the end there's no escape from yourself. Or at least none that's worth taking...
~~~hugs, laika
It is a very sad turn of events
when a person denies who they are inside the body they live in. Just because a body is male or female, doesn't mean the person inside is. We are who we are, and we must be true to ourselves, because nobody else will be. I wrote a blog posted here in BC/TS called The Times They Are A Changing...and they are. Even though we still have homophobic bigots here, society's attitude is changing in our favor...and we can all do something to make sure that that attitude stays changed in our favor. Don't wait for the attitude to change, but get up and do something that will tell the world that the government figures as to who is gay and who is transgendered are not correct. There are way more of us than the numbers show, and if everybody would come out of their closets, we would be a force to deal with.
This is a well written free verse story poem that is heartfelt and full of emotion. So when you read this, never for a moment doubt who you are. If you are a female in a male body, then be female, and if you are a male in a female body then be male. But whatever you do...always....and I mean always.....be true to yourself no matter what. Thank you for sharing Drea.
