Hare Spray

A moments carelessness, a lifetime of regret. A cautionary what-if *tail*.

My contribution to Laika's ADVERTISING SLOGAN STORY CHALLENGE #2

Hair Spray
By John in Wauwatosa, 2007

The LAPD detectives stood to the side as the police photographer shot the gruesome crime scene. An anthropomorphic rabbit laid dead, a half-eaten carrot in his gloved hand. A chunky short man in a old-fashioned hunters costume sat handcuffed in a squad car crying.

“Why did he do it, Joe?”

“I don’t know, Frank, I just don’t know.”

“They were friends for years. Pulled outrageous pranks on each other, even shot at each other and no one ever was hurt. Now this,” he holds up a common household item enclosed in a clear plastic evidence bag, “a can of household insect spray killed him; it makes no sense.”

“I’ll tell you one thing, Frank.”

“What’s that Joe?”

“Their ad slogan tells it all, Kills Bugs Dead!”

The end.

So it wasn't any where near 500 words, short and sweet counts in advertising - or so I've heard.

One of the most difficult things to give away is kindness.
It usually comes back to you.

Oh my goodnes!

John this was demented and a work of genius!
grover

Missed opportunity

It's a pity that the rabbit wasn't engaging in his tendency to crossdress at the time.

Hun, Jennifer

You mean the body should have been dressed and made up like a young Veronica Lake or Lana Turner?

Cus't be.

Classic, John. Elmer always falls apart after he gets his wish.
Like in WHAT'S OPERA DOC, the Wagner spoof.
And short is good. Here's my entry:

Orbit is chewed
a million germs
surrender to the void

Half asleep...
