The Girl with Something Extra
(Just a drabble...)
Laika Pupkino ~ 2016

I ran into Shay at the station. “How was your date?”

“Another freak...”

“Damn!”

“Dinner was great," she said, "He was charming, funny. I'm thinking: 'Finally! A guy who'll treat me like just a normal girl...' But later he was like all the rest, interested in only one thing, that he wanted to fondle and probably suck on.”

Ewwww!!!!

“I'm so sick of these fetishists treating me like I'm just a pair of wings!”

HAWKGIRL! SUPERGIRL! INTRUDERS AT AIRLOCK SIX!!!

Then Shayera and I were too busy fighting to worry about our our problematic love lives.

I'm Really Into Feathers

I guess I'm just another fetish freak.

So much fun in so few words. Kudos is real but invisible.

I guess we're birds of a feather, Joanne

I had just finished watching the cartoon series JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED, and was reflecting on why Hawkgirl was my favorite character. Partly it was her troubled, tough but vulnerable personality, but then I had to admit that there was something very sexy to me about a pretty girl with wings.

And I thought: "Oh God, I'm a freaky paraphilic weirdo!!!"

Then I thought: "How is that really terribly different than a 'she-male' fancier. those males I consider sort of creepy for their particular fetish?" Which led to this drabble.

We all have our preferences.

If they are way off of the mainstream, they are called fetishes. If they are all we see in someone, we are guilty of objectivizing that person.

funny!

I always thought the wings came off, but I could be wrong ...

Hawkgirl and Supergirl

So which was which? Although one has to admit, plenty of men would love to fondle and make love to a nice feathery pair of wings -- and of course, her back and tail. Sucking on them? Not so much.

I would have given you a kudo, except that I already gave long ago. Sorry I didn't comment then.

Supergirl

...is the narrator, because she was speaking to Shayera.
But over the long history of DC comics I'm pretty sure
they've each had a few different names + backstories.
This tale is circa the old Justice League cartoon series.

Careful Reading

Daphne Xu's picture

I only now noticed that it could have been Shay complaining about man and her wings. I thought it was the narrator. Shay was asking about her date, I thought, and the narrator was telling.

100 words

laika's picture

I see you're right, but with all 100 words of this drabble
already accounted for I can't fudge in a "Shay said",
or "Hey Kara" without a serious overhaul that I'm
too preoccupied to do right now.

Ambiguous

Hey, it makes it all the better that the reader not know who is telling whom.

And to think, I was being facetious about asking which was which.
