How are they getting around that??? The same way the other parties are. They go out and buy ad time from the media. All the parties are running ads right now. However, the conservatives can afford to run a lot more.
A little clarification... the 'leader' Dorothy is talking about has publicly (again) pronounced that his party will (attempt to) force an election by voting against the governments budget. All money bills are 'confidence votes', so if the budget doesn't pass, the government falls. At present there are four main parties making up the government of Canada, the conservatives, the liberals, the socialists, and the separatists. The liberals, socialists, and separatists have a deal to work as a coalition (signed in 2009 and still in effect) and actually outnumber the ruling conservatives, but so far have not wanted to go to the electorate. Probably because of their poor financial state... it costs money to run an election campaign. The Conservatives are in much much better shape money wise simply because their supporters actually donate to the party. BTW, all these ads are paid for by the party, not by the government. That means when a credible threat is made, the campaign begins. Ads are bought and run, planes are hired, supporters are mobilized.
