 October 2011 TG Terror
Contest
Entry Submission Dates are from October 1, 2011 until October 23, 2011.
Voting Dates are from Monday October 24, 2011 - Sunday October 30, 2011.
The Big Spooky Revelation Night to find the lucky ghouls & guys who won is, of course, on Monday October 31, 2011!
Contest Submissions are Closed! Voting to be set up later tonight or tomorrow!
Contest Prize Amounts:
1st place - $75
2nd place - $50
3rd place - $25.

The time is here to bring out the spookiness, fear, and horror of Halloween into writing! Come up with a story that deals with a character that is TG or became TG throughout its course of flow and fill it in with frightening stuff!
That simple! Any genre, any plot device, any time period.
The Contest will last a total of 3 weeks for submissions (October 1, 2011 - October 23, 2011). Any number of submissions can be entered but only the top voted on one of any author can be in the top 3 spots.

Please don't forget to Contest Label your submission(s) in the +Fiction Page for the October 2011 TG Terror Contest!

The voting will occur over a 1 week period day period by registered site users only and only 1 vote per person using only 1 of their registered site accounts. Multiple attempts to vote using additional accounts owned or created by that person will nullify their vote and have us pull out the paddle! I apologize in advance to all our authors for the shortness of the duration for submissions for this contest, but due to constraints for other things, it necessarily has to be so.

Erin will announce the voting link when she has it set up.

The 3 top stories will be awarded a prize designated as follows: 1st place - $75, 2nd place - $50, 3rd place - $25. The winners will need to pm Sephrena with their mailing address to mail the winners their money. All money prizes are awarded in US dollar value via money order mailed to the designated winners.

All prizes will be mailed the day after the winners announcement.

Ghoul Luck and Happy TG Terror Halloween to you all!

Yay!

Hm... is there a mandatory lenghs?
How do I have to mark stuff that I've "stolen" from another author? I've got an idea that is somewhat impressioned by a short story of Mercedes Lackey ^^

This will be fun ;)

No Length Requirement

Just make sure the story is longer than 10 words ^^ And no plagiarism. You can take a basic story idea somewhat but twist and wrap it into your own way with your own characters and own words. At the bottom of your story you can add *Based on an idea from Mercedes Lackeys "name of book".

Ah ok, then I don't have to

Ah ok, then I don't have to worry ^^ It's no plagiat...

Yay! Competishunz!!

I started one already in the hope that there would be some Halloween Horror to play with. Now I just need to figure out how to move it on.

Hm...

I do have an idea of a haunted amusement park milieu that's been sat on my back burner waiting for a character I could toss into it. If I do this, OYH will have to go to the back burner from now until the end of submissions. As interesting as it could be to have a more matured Pattengale as the character I toss into the park, I think I'd try to coax a new voice into my head for the honor.

A haunted Amusement park?

Will that darn dog and those meddling kids save the day?

I hadn't even thought about Scooby...

But now you mention it, I do recall at least one episode with a "haunted" amusement park.

No, this one is REALLY haunted, and the ghosts like to pull some very... unique... pranks.

It's a -gasp- modern fantasy story, if that tells you anything.

Abigail Drew.

I just thought about it though...

And it could be fun to make the Scooby Mystery team the ones who get caught up in the place. They've gotten caught in some "real" magical stuff before. Not sure I could do the team justice, though, and I'm not really a fanfic writer. Someone else is welcome to this idea.

I wonder whether everyone is

I wonder whether everyone is writing halloween stories, since there are no new updates ^^

I'm glad mine is more or less finished ^^ There might be a story explosion on 1. october ;)

not I

I got too much going on and didn't want to jump in on this one...although that may change some time soon

Ohhhh...

I SO have to enter this year.

Got a great idea from my Muse!

And i'm focusing on it right after Slacker 3... it's going to be spoooooky fun

Interesting Idea

Enemyoffun's picture

I have an idea that I might have some fun with and its NOT a Melanie Crane story :)

I just had a great idea but...

I have a good idea to write for a story so I might as well write it but I don't really want to give out my mailing address if I did win. Is it possible to participate but not go for any cash prizes then?

I've sent you an email

But if you're email is not getting thru, that probably won't work. You need to check you're junk and spam folders and maybe look at your filters.

Hugs,
Erin

Is it okay to enter more than one story?

I have a couple more short stories bouncing around in my brain. (They want out, it's scary in there!)

Just curious...

For a multi-part entry in this contest, do you add up all the votes for the parts, only look at votes for the title page, or what?

[I have an eight-part, short novel about ready to upload... and I am wondering if I should tack some sort of comment on the end of each part, suggesting that any votes be made for the 'Title page'...]

Not that I seriously expect to get a lot of votes -- it *is* my first attempt at fiction, and I suspect it will end up being 'too real' for many people's tastes. But... I am curious...

For Multi-Part Stories

we umbrella it as a single entry to be voted on as a whole during the voting phase - and Reads do not count as votes.

Happily once again...

...another terrific opportunity to write and read provided by Erin and the folks here at Big Closet/Top Shelf. Thank you; with a shout out once again to Sephrena for the great work she has done to organize yet another challenging contest. The entries have been just fabulous, and I expect the competition will be the same. Thank you, Seph, once again, and thank you, Erin, for providing the best site!
