My Summer at Camp Kickapoo (2)

My Summer at Camp Kickapoo
Chapter Two
Concerning Merit Badges

The sound of a lone trumpeter sounding out reveille sounded through the woods. The ear piercing sound caused me to roll over and slowly open my eyes. It was still raining outside my tent and the wind was starting to blow harder now than it had when I'd fallen into a fitful sleep. The wind blew the falling rain at a slant. My eyes still heavy with sleep tried to focus on my watch. It was four o' clock in the morning.

Cerridwen's First Anime Convention (3)

Part Three of Three
The Bunny Belle of The Anime Convention! Cerridwen-Chan!

The Vicksburg Convention Center was a handsome brick building located in the heart of downtown Vicksburg, that to say it was located right on the riverfront, right behind the concrete flood wall the city had built some twenty years ago to contain the yearly overflow from the Mississippi River. Vicksburg being a river port depended on the Mississippi River and the barge traffic that flowed up and down the river.

Part Two of Three:
Bunnygirl Cerridwen-Chan!

Amazon was the premier bazaar of the internet. One could find anything one wanted there. And so one afternoon mom and I sat down together and started to browse the site for bunny suits. Mom kind of wanted to be there to help guide me I guess. Also I guess she kind of saw this as a kind of mother-daughter bonding time.

Have you ever given thought to those people who work in fast food places? Like what kind of life choices has driven them to work at say a McDonalds or Sonic or at Moonshine's Pizza Emporium. Well to answer your question, people like me. People who are still in school, and trying saving up money for college. My name is Rebecca Coleman, I'm seventeen and I'm working as a part time shift leader down at Moonshine's Pizza Emporium kind of a cheap knock off of Chuck E. Cheese.

-Prologue-

I took a deep breath as I peered toward the marshy landscape that was coastal Alabama. The Weather was warm, and the smell of salt and dead fish hung heavy in the air. I was never one for long car rides, but the ride from Benton to Sea Breeze, Alabama had thus far taken around seven hours and we were still at least an hour out of Sea Breeze, that seven hours of sitting next to my cousin, who seemed to be in a world of her own.

A New Year's Promise

A New Year's Promise

I promised her this year would be different from all the others. That this year would be the year she could finally come out from hiding in the shadows, up till now she had only been allowed to come out. This year I've finally worked up the courage to allow her to spread her wings and soar high into the heavens. To walk the freshly tilled earth, to feel the gentle breath of spring, the warm of summer sunshine, the cool crispy of autumn air and to feel the sting of winter's breath upon her rosy cheeks.

To whom much is given, much will be Required

While I was fishing this afternoon. This bible verse popped into my head. "To whom much is given, much will be required." For a moment I felt like I'd been struck with a piece of iron. Allow me to explain, I have been given much this year, and I'm afraid I've done very little to return it. I've been blessed with the firm mentorship of two of the most brillent writers I've ever known, Emma Anne Tate, and Joanne Barbarella, and I'm sure there dozens more waiting to be discovered here on this forum.

You Y'all Lift Me Up!

First allow me to say this, Merry Christmas to y'all. This year has been a amazing, yes there were dark periods, periods of self doubt, periods when I felt like it was time to give up and retire and retreat into the darkness of the internet never to be seen nor heard from again. There were also times when I felt like I was on fire and the world of fiction was my oyster. Rambling aside, I want to thank every member of this site.

Trying Something New.

I've encountered a bit of writers block with How I Spent My Summer Vacaction: I became a Girl!. So in order to break that writers block I've decided to try something, something all writers did when I was starting out. Well writers in the Harvest Moon Community that is. Anyway, since Emily favorite gaming series is 'Star Dew Valley' a series of anime inspired farming simulator games that have some elements of JRPG's thrown in to spice things up, like upgrading your farming tools and building releationships with the locals, and an 'life bar'.

Fishing for ideas.

So, I've hit a bit of a stumbling block. And I was hoping the readership here could help me out. I have two possible ideas for a story, both are kind of beach themed. One centers on Persephone paiting the gulf coast red. The other be an intro for a new character, or feature Isabella. The first one is more, fun, adventure, slice of life, that flavored with anime and manga style humor. The other is dark, brooding and a bit scary, maybe even too scary.

An BigCloset TopShelf Exclusive Story

I took a deep breath as I peered toward the plain, copper protestant cross that stood on the altar. The air inside St. George's Episcopal Church was cold, just like the weather outside. A rare snow storm had moved in from Tennessee bringing with it not only snow, but a bitter wind that cut one to the bare bone. The Rector of St. George, Fr. George Stonewall had yet to turn on the heat. And thus the only warmth was from the tip of the altar candles.

What Would You Do?
Part Two
A Cerridwen Solo Special

A few seconds later another stagehand a brunette woman with longish hair came beside me and ushered me from the front stage to the back area. She guided me down a long, dark hallway that was lined with doors. I could not tell the doors apart, one looked very much like the other. Finally we reached a room, she pushed the iron gray door handle down and the door flew open. She then reached one arm inside and flipped a light switch.

The Hospital's Fete (Part One)

I will confess something to you. I have a certain fetish, I discovered this fetish when I was twelve years old when I Googled 'Girls getting Pied'. The results blew my preadolescence. The deeper I dove down that rabbit hole the more I discovered. In the course of my wandering from one corner of the internet to the other I happened upon several sites that hosted stories written by people who had this fetish. I devoured these stories like a hungry dragon.

Cerridwen and the Loch Ness Monster

Cerridwen and the Loch Ness Monster

According to family legend, dozens of my ancestors on my daddy side of the family, fought and died under the banner of Charles Edward Stuart, and when he was defeated at the Battle of Culloden they were forced to flee to the colonies, and somehow later ended up here in Mississippi. I don't know how true that story is. But I do know, my dad always wished to see Scotland, to him it was that fable homeland. He was proud as a peacock of the few remaining traces of Scottish blood that flowed in his veins.

An Earnest Conversation

I slept like shit Saturday night. Mr. Tom Anderson's pure breed Persian Blue and Ms. Susan Smith's pure breed Siamese spent the whole night making kitten's under my window. It's safe to say in about seven weeks there will be some strange looking kitten's running around the neighborhood. Oh well, that was not my problem. I just had to listen to it all night.

Daisy's Red Badge of Courage (3)

Daisy's Red Badge of Courage
A Prequel to “Daisy and Phantom Nurse”

Act III: A Bloody Red Badge

I felt myself being lifted off the ground a few moments later. At this point I felt a fever starting to form, and my fingers and legs were starting to tremble. I slowly opened my eyes and noticed two faces were peering down at me. Both belonged to teenage girls, one had blonde hair and blue eyes, the other had black hair and blue eyes. Angels? Had I really died and gone to heaven?

Act Two: A Fearsome Melee

I felt like a Roman gladiator entering into the Colosseum. My blood ran cold, it seemed the whole school was. The parking lot was jammed full of people. And at the center was the beast of the man. He had stripped himself of his collared shirt and tossed it to the side. His eyes burned like fire. The minute I entered into the circle was the minute all eyes turned toward me.

I have to cosplay as a Bunnygirl ?!

I found myself twelve hundred dollars richer by the afternoon. My bank account had almost doubled when I put the money into it. But I knew I would still need to earn that money. So, taking a deep breath I pushed myself off the easy chair that I'd hawked from the side of the curb one bright Saturday morning and reached for my phone. I took a deep breath and then dialed my cousin's number. The phone rang and rang again until at last she finally picked up.

Reviewing Duets ( One of Two)

I promised Ms. Emma Anne Tate an honest review of her masterfully crafted “Duets” and so please consider this blog post an in-depth review of her work. First off, allow me to say this, Emma has a gift that few writers seem to have she is a mistress at building a world that seems so real, you can crawl right into it. And “Duets” is a tour de force of her talent. She artfully displays her keen insight to human mind within the digital pages.

Daisy and the Phantom Nurse (4)

Once I entered the cafeteria I paused and looked around. I  then closed my eyes and slowly opened them. I was ready for a nap, but food had to come first. So shrugging my shoulders I walked over and joined the line for the hot food. The other doctors and nurses in line only peered at me, none of them said a signal word. I guess most of them wanted to eat and go home. Which suited me just fine. Or on the other side of the coin they wanted to get a quick bite of breakfast before starting their day.

Act II

Night has now fallen, the hallway outside my door is as quiet as the grave. The harsh white light from the light bulbs above that somehow filters through the crack of the doorway into my room is the only  hint of any sign of life. Outside my window, I can hear the wind starting to howl, big, fat raindrops the size of pennies are falling down by the trillions. I can hear those fat, drops of rain splashing upon the window.
