My radiators have been fixed so hopefully no more water dripping about the place. My house feels nice and warm again and I'll shall sit down before I open the bill when it arrives.

Did a bit more cycling today but my fitness is well down after my cold. My mileage for last year was the lowest for ages, so I hope to do better this. My daughter seems to be feeling a little better as well, so perhaps things are going to improve at last.

I read the whole of Snafu last week and apart from some minor editing, I think it holds together well as a story--can't believe it took me ten years to write. When I have time I plan on publishing it but that won't be for a while yet, too busy.

I'm off to bed, nos da ich i gyd.

Glad You Are Feeling Better

It was -12 Celsius when I went to work yesterday, and we live in The South (US). Ice storm tomorrow. Stay warm, please.

Purely to test my gear and for the heck of it, I spent the night Wednesday in my yard in a tent. It was -15 degC and windy. Didn't have any problems until at some point after drawing my feet up to myself, I later stretched them out into a cold part of the sleeping bag. Woke up and stayed awake at 4am.

I need a mummy style bag rated for 0degF. Friend of mine promises to do the Appalachian Trail in a hammock, can't imagine that in this weather.

Can't stand to think of needing the floors all fixed from radiators leaking either.

Glad your heating is fixed! It was - 14 F (-25 C) this morning and I saw some teenagers wearing SHORTS!!

Homonyms, synonyms, heterographs, contractions, slang, colloquialisms, clichés, spoonerisms, and plain old misspellings are the bane of writers, but the art and magic of the story is in the telling not in the spelling.

If it's very dry ...

... and there's no wind chill it can feel a lot warmer than the thermometer indicates but I've rarely (if ever) experienced -25 C. We had a very cold spell 20/30 years ago when I was cycling to work (on 3 wheels!) in around -15C and I didn't warm up until I'd done about 7 or 8 miles despite a lot of clothes. In the UK it can feel very cold even at what people experiencing continental winters would consider because of the all pervading damp and the wind chill. We all used to go sledging in shorts because all boys wore them all the time in the 1940s/ 1950s. We never thought anything of it. I didn't own any long trousers until I was 15.
