Well, Amazon sent me an email:

"Dear Name,

Thank you for the additional information. Please be advised that we are in the process of removing the following Kindle titles from sale on all Amazon sites:

Playing A Woman ASIN: B01M1D8SSI

It typically takes 2-3 days for the changes to be reflected on the sites. We trust this will bring this matter to a close."

I still have the copy of the stolen tale on my kindle and on my amazon cloud. I'm hoping that when they finish their process, those will 'disappear' and people who purchased it (as opposed to kindle unlimited borrowing) will be reimbursed for the item.

Just really wanted to say thank you to everyone for the help, the support and for the encouragement. And, I'm sorry for the tiggish cat-fit. I was stressed. You all know what the clinical definition of stress is?

Stress is the physiological response resulting when your brain stops your hands from throttling someone your heart tells you really needs it!

Well, again sincere thanks and appreciation.

Warm furry hugs

PS - this is the second try because the first didn't take. I may have used some forbidden words when talking about wishes and horses and pirates.

This is what can happen,

when we gather for a common purpose. We ARE powerful when we have a purpose. Helping bring down a thief who dared to copy and try to make a profit from one of our best, brought out the tiger in us all, and we collectively clawed the crap out of that thief!

Anytime, Tigger... anytime.

You should not have to apologize

That story was yours and you shared it with the world. For someone to claim that it was their creation is the same thing as someone claiming the right to wear military medals and ribbons. I know that they are different, but the underlying attitude on the part of the thief is the same. I'm glad that Amazon was willing to cooperate with you.

I'm pleased for you

I'm pleased that you've finally gotten the results you deserved. As for your "tiggish cat-fit." There is such a thing as righteous anger... I think you being upset about a plagiaristic thief falls in the category. If you have cause again to throw another "tiggish cat-fit" we'll all back you all the way.

Hugs

Happiness is being all dressed up and HAVING some place to go.

Plagiarism sucks....

And I'm glad that Amazon did something. I'm not a writer, but I know that writing take a lot of time and work. It just sickens me that people think they can make a quick buck by stealing someone else's creativity.

The Fly

Daphne Xu's picture

I hate to be the fly in the ointment, but this scares me. It scares me that too much reliance on Kindle and Kindle-like things might lead to the Orwellian situation where something could be rewritten or disappeared, and history could be rewritten. I remember one earlier incident some years back as well.

It's an inevitable

It's an inevitable consequence of DRM. I can't come up with the names off of the top of my head, but there's already been at least two businesses that sold electronic media, that when they went out of businesses - so did everyone's purchases. Groups like the RIAA don't care - they get paid a second time when someone has to buy it elsewhere, and will happily sue the crap out of anyone that tries to replace their purchased media through a "pirate" method.

Do I know a good solution? Nope. I know a solution, but not necessarily a good one. That's give up on DRM.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.
