At anytime over a million trucks are professionally driven on the highways and by-ways of America. Carrying everything from acid to yachts. Not all loads are so innocuous. Some are precious and some are out-right lethal. For loads that are deemed dangerous or valuable to be referred to as High-Security, special trucks are used. Trucks that look so normal, one would never guess it from any other. Trucks that run in secret, apart from their company, called Ghost Fleets. Others have no markings at all, and are specially modified. One such company that specializes in High-Security Loads; Phantom Lines....

Stupidity is a capital offense. A summary not indictable.

Sounds good to me.

Happy Thanksgiving hon.

Looking forward to this

When I woulda driven a truck, didn't want to. Now that I want to the health won't take it, can't sit in the saddle more than about 3 hours. I'd have to hire a valet to put the chains on because I can't pick them up, especially dual chains. Besides the idea of looking out the window and seeing the second trailer passing me ... Nope, uh uh. :)

You are such a tease!!!

But if course I am eagerly awaiting this new story. Just as I eagerly await each new chapter of The Station's Late Night Princess.

Cool.

Cool.

I once arranged for the transport of spent nuclear fuel. Picked the route. Arranged for permits, security, liaised with local/state authorities. The truck was indeed unmarked.

But I've said too much. Now I have to kill you.

Road Phantoms

Since everyone is asking, or wanting to ask, I'll go ahead and fill you in. Road Phantoms is a new story. I've had it on the back-burner for a while now and playing around with it when I have some idle time. This will be one of my 'free stories' in that it will always be here, free to read, like The Lyssa Kordenay Missions, Chrysalis Project and The Nightmare Rider.

As some here know, at one time I drove trucks cross-country for a national carrier. I met many interesting people out on the road and heard even more stories. I decided I'd spin a tale or two about trucks and the people who drive them, with my own twist of course. Some things will be based in fact, quite a bit will be pure fiction. That being said, it should be a bit of fun. As for the posting schedule, I don't have one. As you all know, I have more than one iron in the fire so I work on Road Phantoms when I have time.

I hold a class A CDL. I don't haul high security loads, but I haul high dollar loads. I often have twenty-seven million dollars worth of freight in my trailer.

Pull up the USGPO page and read just WHO the FMCSA regulations apply to, according to FMCSA. The facts may shock you.

Years ago

Years ago I believe I happened to see one of these ghost line trucks. Black no markings on cab or trailer and both appeared taller than normal. This was late at night and we were both at a gas stop and left at the same time. Being curious and young I decided to follow it since we were both traveling in the same direction.

This was in the south west VA and growing up on mountain roads I'm pretty confident at driving on them. Trucks pulling flat bed trailers were about the fastest eighteen-wheeler s that I followed. This truck was extra special though as it drove away from me and I was averaging 80mph and in a minute even its running lights was not to be seen. Whatever it was it wasn't a normal tractor or driver. It always reminded me of black SUV s and made a lasting impression.

Well we know

that these drivers will be tuning in to KVTX Mon-Fri 22:00 to 02:00 to hear from the lovely Lady Lux.
