A few things happened this week that caused me to look at unfinished stories on my list and then I heard a radio announcer advertise a BBC Radio programme called 'Jamie and the Piano Man - A Billy Joel Special'.
I read several stories again checking for work I needed to do to tidy up and fulfil a promise.

My favourite posting from my own list is 'Sing me a Song Mr Piano Man' and I wondered if authors might consider the same and pick their favourite stories from their own lists that gave them the most satisfaction (and did not necessarily receive the most kudos.)

It might help me create a rather nice library of reading for Christmas as a gift to myself.

Maybe it could become a series of short story books to sell on Amazon raising extra funds. Unless it's been done before.

Some our best authors would have a massive challenge but then maybe not.

Anyway it was a fairly easy task for me.

Who knows I might get a great library of stories and I'd still buy the books.

My pick

For depth of story, it has to be the two 'Ride' books, speaking only of completed works. For personal pleasure, 'Sunlight and Shade'

My Pick

Putting aside my caption stories and just considering my regular but very short stories I'd have to say that Heat Wave is my favorite though it's a close call over Chasing Amy

Hands down would be "Dumb Bet." As it happens, the readers agree with me. I like it because it was one that I struggled with, for years, (I started writing it in 1996 and just published it this year) and blasted my way through several writers blocks on it and finally came out with a winner.

Another one I like is "The CNA" but mostly because it is set in the house where I first discovered my feminine persona. "The CNA" runs almost parallel with "Tight Money" which is set in the house that my best friend of the time lived in. I particularly like the conclusion in "Tight Money."

My favorite of my stories and the one I'd pick for a "Retro Classic"
has always been THE SECRET EXISTENCE OF MISTY WALTERS:

I don't know that it's most people's, but I like it because it's 5 stories in one: A Julie O tribute/knockoff,
a silly adventure fanfic, a high school transition tale, and a noir-ish body swap drama all tied together by a framing story about a crossdresser and author of t.g. fiction (the "Walter Mitty" character...) who's having all these fantasies/story-ideas as he wrestles with the necessity of coming out to his wife...
