After finishing up the tome titled Somewhere Else Entirely I have mixed feelings about it. First is is an unbelievably captivating story tale. The rich dialog and descriptive phrases gave it life. This is akin to an action movie we can enjoy for the action scenes and the story plot which holds together rather than a movie with no story to tell or adventure to fill in the lack there of. Some of the telling got a little long as the author was into what the heroine described the next "new idea" to the people involved. But all in all it was an imaginative story was it not? And what an imagination! The author has one of the most fertile concepts of what if there ever was. I was trapped in the story along with Garia and could not quit until the end.

The handling of many actors and actresses without losing emotions and sight of the main charcter(s) is the gift of only the most capable story tellers or script writers. I believe Miss Penny Lane did this as good or better than even the most talented movie directors. Dozens of supporting actors moved in and out of the plot without an awkward moment from beginning to end as we never lost track of the main actors. Again, the only description that comes to mind is unbelievable!

If one reads only one fictional story in their life, this should be the one. Beware the story is a tome and one will find themselves lost in another world for a week or better until Miss Lane ties a ribbon on the ending. Like Arnold in Total Recall be prepared to jump to another reality.
Well done

Have fun with life, it's too short to take it seriously

What do I say?

There isn't an author here who doesn't want to hear nice things about their work so I am grateful for some unsolicited praise.

I have sent Barbie a detailed PM in response.

So, what's the mixed feelings

So, what's the mixed feelings? It sounds like you enjoyed it thoroughly with no caveats.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

My two penn'orth

I was once described on here as 'the queen of reality'. I write real world stuff, with characters as real as I can make them. I try my very best not to write throwaway people. I don't 'do' fantasy.

Penny then drops this one on us, and I'm hooked. The situation is fantastic, but it is as real as it can be. The characters breathe, they live, so my boxes are well ticked. When a particular villain is killed by Garia, as Penny will remember, I muttered "Die, you bastard!" as he expired, I was that involved in the story. That is the hallmark of a good tale, that you do not just care what happens to the players but you care about them as people.

It is still an underated series imho

Currently author who is named after weather in winter got over 400 kudos for a chapter. The most Penny ever got was maybe 200.

Frankly I don't see why it deserved that much.

To do what Penny did over the course of over 100 chapters is stunning, using a plot that does not require excessive grandstanding or overly pushy main characters, over an immense sweeping story arc. I am not saying we should not have positive trans characters but there is such thing as pushing it into the surreal.

Like they say

Angharad's picture

there's no accounting for taste but crossdressing stories do tend to get more hits and thus more kudos. I probably won't read either story because I don't do sci-fi/fantasy and I don't usually read CD stories.

In a rare agreement, I will

In a rare agreement, I will say that I avoid TV/CD stories like the plague, and it really seems like FictionMania has become a CD/femdom site more than anything else.
