It's weird how quick Daily Life of a 'Trap' has gotten popular. I basically wrote it because I wanted to do something different and use traps in a piece. I didn't expect it to become as popular as it is.

I'm glad it did. I like it when people read my stuff and may actually like it.

I don't know what's in store for the series, but I hope it becomes something great.

This use of "Trap" is not familiar to me

I think I'm missing something.

In my experience, "Trap" is a term transphobic (and homophobic) men use to refer to trans women who they feel lust towards and don't immediately recognize as trans. The implication is that the women are impersonating their (the transphobic men's) lawful prey, i.e., cis women, and "trapping" the men into having sex or wanting to have sex with people they see as male. There's a whole putrid mess of transphobia, homophobia, and misogyny attached to the term "trap"

It's pretty clear from the context that Tracy is not trans, nor does Luke seem transphobic. When Luke says "trap", at first it seems like he means it as an insult, but then he's trying to be nice to Tracy and doesn't apologize to Tracy for calling him a "trap."

I'm guessing it has something to do with animé; I've read a little manga, but haven't run across this.

Sub-Genre

Trap is a pretty well recognized sub-genre of anime. As you can imagine, it encompasses a wide range of behavior, from accidental to malevolant. There are several in "You're Under Arrest", for example. With lesbian relations pretty well accepted that gives a lot of room for 'meet cute'. There are bad traps, often deceiving people for monetary gain or the plans to some big secret. Lots of 'trap' art on dA. There was a manga I was following for awhile over there, about a princess kept locked up so she will remain pristene. Her attendents are all female, of course. Except for her primary maid who just happens to be a male in disguise so the foreign power can kidnap the princess. Naturally the 24/7 female impersonation has brought the maid to a point where she/he is questioning everything. I lost track of it so I haven't a clue what happens. So what context you use it determines if it's an insult or not.

Popular

This story may have surprised you with its popularity, but I'd guess if the chapters got a bit longer it'd be really popular. It seems to be set in 1 hr periods, like the full story is one day for Tracy and Luke. If that's the case, the very short chapters are really perfect for it. Deliberate or not, it's a rather neat format.

Still waiting for 10, 11, 12 and so on please

Emotion, yet peace.
Ignorance, yet knowledge.
Passion, yet serenity.
Chaos, yet harmony.
Contemplation, yet duty
Death, yet the Force.
Light with dark, I remain Balanced.

You and me both!

I'm enjoying the viewpoint of a trap in western society. I hope to see more and longer chapters! Soon would be nice!

More and Longer

More and longer would certainly be nice.... Hope it happens, and that the story hasn't died off.

Apparently

Nothing was in store for the series. Dead, deceased, gone.
