“Who Is Sylvia?” starts out atop one of the most spectacular places in the US – the top of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park. Sylvia O’Donnell, the youngest daughter of Mike and Jo O’Donnell has hotfooted it to the top of the peak to chase anyone left off. There had been a sudden change in the annual monsoon flow, and thunderstorms were forecast. Indeed, they were starting to form in the east. It would only be a matter of time before they reached Half Dome to the west.

Things become complicated when an acrophobic young man is afraid to take the treacherous ladders off the summit. Another gentleman approaches her, and she knows him. He volunteers to carry the man down. When Sylvia was getting her master’s degree, Phil Esterházy had been an undergraduate in a class that she’d been a teaching assistant for. He’d asked her out, but she’d politely refused. In her mind he was too short, too young, and too immature. That’s all changed now. He has his PhD, and will be teaching at Humboldt State. Sylvia has not yet completed the work for hers, but she is close to the end. She is researching the restoration of the Hetch Hetchy Valley should the dam that caused the flooding ever be removed.

Phil thinks, hopes there is a chance for romance with the woman he has always wanted. It isn’t going to be easy, but he is determined. There are a number of obstacles to overcome as we shall see. Sylvia’s early life hadn’t always been easy. She matured early and was a strikingly beautiful young woman. She became the object of many unwanted sexual advances. There were other ghosts that helped create the “Ice Princess”. Will Phil’s determination overcome these, and will they be able to overcome the murderous intentions of someone from both their pasts?

Of all the books in the series, this and the first one are the closest to stand alone novels. This is a very passionate love story.

The TG content is mild; however, a transgender woman, Musetta, from the previous two novels in the series does make an appearance.
