Contests:

Just a reminder, there's still three weeks before the end of the contest deadline! We have two entries so far, and I can't wait to see what else people come up with!

If you're interested but missed the original announcement, contest details can be found by clicking the contest tag in this blog's description. The only thing that's changed since the original post is that we have moved from unofficial to being officially sanctioned.

Good luck!

Melanie E.

(PS: Sephrena here. Here is the link to see the current entrants: here!)

I'm writing one, Melanie

And if no one else enters I might even get third prize!

But I'd rather see tons of the sort of quality Tail-Kissing Fairy Stories (did I say that right?) that I know the talented authors here at BCTS are capable of. Hopefully they'll take a few hours off from their latest serial and pen something for yer contest.

I suggest you keep posting these blogs as they disappear from the front page. People can't enter a contest if they don't know about it.

I'm intending to do one per week.

Keep it fresh in people's minds without overwhelming or taking over the front page, you know?

But yeah. I hope we get a lot of varied stories. I know that the PG-13 limitation will probably be seen as a bit of an annoyance for some of our current crop of high-output authors, but I have high hopes regardless :)

I'm writing

Something, whether or not it will fit the contest I don't know yet. Not really even a crush in it so, I don't know about kisses, but fairy tale? Yeah I'm getting that done...

This has me tempted.

A few months back, though, I made a very blunt statement that I would not participate in any more contests here.

I'm not going to rehash any of what happened then, just state that it was due to errors and misunderstandings on both sides.

I've got the germ of an idea in my head, but getting involved in this feels like I would be breaking a promise. *sighs* I hate shit like this.

You could always write a story that fits without entering.

The contest's theme is hardly something so specific to the contest as to be unwelcome outside of it, so feel free to write a story that COULD be part of it and simply leave the contest tag out :) I'd actually kinda commend that to be honest.

Re: "You could always write a story that fits without entering."

Maybe I said it wrong, I guess I should clarify it a little so people understand it better.

When I said there were errors and misunderstandings on both sides of the matter, I was including the statement that I would never enter a contest again. To be blunt, that was said in the heat of anger, and the whole blog was removed before I could say anything else.

In other words, it was a rash statement, one I likely would not have made had I not been so angry at the time.

Have you ever blown the proverbial gasket and not been able to settle down for quite a few hours? That is what happened with me that day. I'm usually slow to anger, but sometimes I go off without warning, having no idea of what made me angry enough to go boom.

I may be slow to anger, but once there, it can take most of the day for me to calm down. That can cause problems in lots of ways.

If you absolutely feel that I should submit it without entering, I'll go along with that. I already have part of the story written.

You're perfectly welcome to enter :P

The "you can write without entering" bit was in case YOU were uncomfortable.

I don't know anything about the situation you mention above, and to be honest it's none of my business. And, it should be noted that while I'm sponsoring this contest I am in no way responsible for picking the winners; that's entirely up to the popular vote.

I would love to see your story, contest entry or not. Either way, simply writing is enough to get my vote.

Melanie E.

Thank you...

I'll get back to working on the story fairly soon. I hope to have it finished in about a week, maybe a bit longer.

Maybe, hopefully...

I hope to write something under a real user account; never done a contest here before... alas, I am still waiting for a plot epiphany...

Maybe

Maybe I'll enter; we'll see. I've been atrociously slow at writing. (Also, final exams, etc.)

I don't think I've done a contest since Malinov's "Write Club" contests a couple decades ago on ASS*. Come to think of it, I might be able to treat it as a Write-Club contest, and perhaps whip out a very short story.
