Writing again

I'm gradually getting back into story writing. Huge story in the works which sort of revolves around a topic Eric posted on metamorphose.org a few weeks back about liking TG stories where someone is made a copy of someone else and the wrong twin swaps back. The idea intrigued me so I started writing a story about that. It'll be awhile though but I guess I could do something crazy and start releasing chapters as I get them written instead of waiting for the entire work to be finished. Problem with that is I like to go back and edit and rewrite earlier chapters, so if I post a serial story I'm stuck without being able to do that. Anyhow, something I'm pondering doing.

I've more or less given up on the online game EverQuest. Tried going back to the game after a few years absence but came back for a few months, finally defeated Time plane (the old EQ end game) and some zones beyond but couldn't keep up with my guild's raid nights. Used to be a fun game but not anymore. Even with some high level zones finally being unlocked I don't see how EQ can possibly last as long as it has. Used to think World of Warcraft would be the replacement but tried that game too and aside from better graphics (in places anyway) it's still pretty much the same old thing, minus the enormity of EQ raids of course, which is really something to see if you've never been in a huge raid online before. Anyhow EQ had been draining away my writing time, what little I had, and now the dating scene.

I should just give up on the dating scene and finish some of my stories. Or put things in balance, if I can, and give at least nearly as much time and effort into my story writing as some of my real life activities (real life, I say because in my stories I'm delving deep into a fantasy world). Anyhow, we'll see what happens. In about a year or so I plan on bringing back my old website, Cromexx Central, or something like it but right now I can't dedicate enough time to it to make it worth it. It would just sit there, a dead site, doing nothing, and with rare if any updates, but a year from now, yeah. I can see it back again. I've just got to get through this mid-life crisis of mine and get back to my home town and stop all this stupid "adventuring" around the world. A writer needs a little adventure, I suppose, to actually have something to write about, but this is ridiculous.

Fun, laid back, and Different

Guild Wars. I find that you can find a guild to match your play style, no matter what kind. My Guild doesn't "do" PvP, we don't organize for Raids, but we're always there to help out a guildie. The prevailing attitude is that if I have something you need, and you're a guildie, it's yours. I've given away a bucketload of unique items and rare loot drops and I've only been playing a couple of months. It's more like hanging out with friends. If you need help on a low-level area, a guildie will help. If you need help on a high-level area, a guildie will help. If you need help on just getting revenge on the &%$#&#@!!! roving boss monster that kicked your ass so hard you'll still feel the wedgie next year, a guildie will help. Also, Max level only being 20 in my opinion is much superior to the other games, because you're not always struggling to play catchup... in fact, you hit 20 fairly quickly. I'd say about 80% to 90% of the game is level 20 content. If you wanna know more, PM me.
