apparently I have a very common problem for women. Uti my first.

Not really enjoying it since I am also very badly constipated at the same time.

And no I am not drinking cranberry juice, thanks I have heard enough about it already but it makes me wanna throw up as soon as I smell it.

UTI Sisters

Ok then, drink lots of water every day, 2 liters. This will flush your kidneys out and your bladder too. They found that they would have me on Antibiotics all the time, OR drink lots of water, your choice really.

As to constipation, I use Psyllium Fiber with 8 oz of water, Colace if that does not work. Oatmeal at breakfast will sometimes break things free.

Sometimes I get Anal burning from something I ate. A banana cures that immediately, no preparation H needed.

Years and years of medical experience and pain for free.

Lots of water, and vitamin B.

Lots of water, and vitamin B. The vitamin B will help you flush it out, much like the juice.

I'll get a life when it's proven and substantiated to be better than what I'm currently experiencing.

It's not the greatest but it

It's not the greatest but it's better than prune juice!

I guess having to drink them in the summer when it was free to kids for lunch gave me a bias for cranberry juice :(

I'm told STFU more times in a day than most people get told in a lifetime

Never had a UTI

A byproduct of my incontinence is that I wear a pad all the time, protecting my entrance from germs. Plus the incontinence acts as a convenient flush.

That said, an antibiotic or lots of water is probably your only choices given your aversion to cranberry juice.

Oh, and if you wear thongs, that should be avoided.

That sucks!

That sucks!

I can understand the sentiment about the juice, but it's the Vitamin C in the juice that does the helping so more vitamins and whatever antibiotics you are prescribed will help. It's been debunked as a cure but does help indirectly but any fruit juice like orange or grapefruit or apple will do...

UTIs can be dangerous

UTIs can be terrible, and dangerous. As an alternative, or in addition to, pure cranberry juice (not cranberry juice drink) there are various capsules and liquid cranberry extracts. Examples are "Cystex" and "Azo". There is also D-Mannose, which is believed to be the component of cranberries that helps prevent UTIs.

I've had several UTIs. Twice I spiked a fever of over 104 deg F. Once I fainted, fell and hit my head. Like I said they can be dangerous, even fatal, so take care.

{I leave a trail of Kudos as I browse the site. Be careful where you step!}

Plus

UTI's can send you more than slightly 'doolally'. (temporarily a bit crazy)

My 97year old Mother has them quite frequently. A few years ago she had a bad one and went a bit bonkers. It made her aversion to hospitals even worse. It took a Doctor, to Paramedics and me almost 4 hours to get her to agree to go to Hospital. She kept insisting that she was fine but clearly wasn't. That infection was so bad that they kept her in for three weeks.
She has a mild one at the moment. I'm meeting with her Doctor this afternoon to discuss her treatment so this thread is quite opportune.

The moral is...
UTI's are nasty things if left untreated.

I am so sorry for you! Those are miserable! I assume you've got it under control right now but I'll mention a couple of things in case you don't. See a doctor; these things will not go away on their own. The longer you wait to see a doctor the more miserable you're going to be and the longer you'll be that way. Second, at least in the United States, you can get something for the pain over the counter. I think AZO was the one I used. I got it at Wal-Mart in the feminine hygiene isle. It will really help with the pain and burning until the antibiotics the doctor will give you can do their job.
