Just so everyone knows, the fire in Calimesa is about two miles to the west of me, down in the canyon, and the wind is blowing north. I'm fine and the dog is fine.

Hugs,
Erin

We're not PG&E here but SCE has warned if it gets hotter, drier and windier, be prepared for blackouts. It's not scheduled to get hotter but it's already windy.

Erin

= Give everyone the benefit of the doubt because certainty is a fragile thing that can be shattered by one overlooked fact.

Power outage

Here in Oakland, our power went off at 9:50 last night and came back on at 7:06 tonight. Here, we don't hear much about fires down south, our news stations are too worried about repeats of the past two years in the SF Bay Area. Of course, since we had no power, we also had no TV or Internet, so they may have mentioned your fire and we missed it.

Take care of yourself......

And don’t be too proud to leave if you need to. Remember, you can always replace possessions, but you can’t replace people.

Pack a bag

and be ready to grab it, computer, vital records + your puppy
throw them all in the car and drive like hell.
I've done this a few times when fires
have come close enough to us
to see them a mile or so away
but luckily our 40 year old
uninsurable double-wide
(Yep, trailer trash)
is still here...

It looks bad...

Glad you're ok. Sounds serious..."A wind-driven brush fire in Calimesa destroyed 73 mobile homes and a park clubhouse, damaged 16 other homes and burned at least 500 acres on Thursday, authorities said. The so-called Sandalwood fire began after a trash truck carrying burning garbage dumped its load..." Yucaipa seems fine.

Dee
