Greetings all,

Whelp, I will be on the road again in a few minutes (and it's snowing, blah) so just a quick note that I won't be able to post tomorrow. I should in theory have plenty of time to write in the evenings (unless I am dragged out to go eat) at least this week just can't post. (only have a work PC when travelling)

Anyway, everyone have a lovely weekend Ill see yall when I get back.

We'll survive if the lost queen remains lost for a couple of days longer.

Although I will undoubtably suffer.......

From withdrawal, having been a road warrior for years, I entirely understand.

Hence why I carry not only my company laptop, but my personal laptop and I-pad when I travel. And yes, it’s heavy as hell and a pain in the ass, but sometimes necessary. There is simply too many things I need to do that cannot be done on my company laptop.

Have a good trip and stay warm Hon!

been there, got the 'T' Shirt

I ended up with a wheeled laptop bag. Saved my poor back.

I resorted to having a Linux system dual boot with the Corporate 'locked down' Windows System. The first company one was so locked down that all internet access , even WiFi was impossible unless I had fired up a VPN and logged in to the Corporate domain. Madness but that was the policy.
The Linux System made NSFW activities easy. Corporate Security couldn't do a thing as the Linux system had no access to the corporate sytem or corporate network.

Linux

This is where Linux on a stick is handy unless corporate has locked it down so you can’t boot off of a thumb drive.

iPad

Definitely the way to go.

Light weight and reasonably usable for typing.

And reasonably secure if one needs to purge it. If you are worried about the boarder patrol being asses then I would email it to yourself assuming the email service you use is secure so it is not on your machine anywhere. The Lost Queen is worksafe anyway so there is not much they can do.

OTOH, If you do continue to write, I doubt your fans would object to a double post when you get back. ^_^

Definitely

Lost Queen and freyA together would be awesome.

hugs :)

I will survive.

I will survive. (And if I keep saying that loudly enough and firmly enough I may even manage to pretend to believe it.)

Elsbeth, I have no idea how you manage to write and post chapters regularly when you have an on-the-road job.) I hope your week goes well.

My personal experience........

Is that I have a lot of time to myself while traveling. I usually spend about 10 hours a day at the office, and then go to dinner - quite often alone, which gives me plenty of time to read while eating. After dinner I will either head back to my hotel, or occasionally do some shopping if I am particularly bored. Once at the hotel, I will either change and visit the workout room, or if there is a Planet Fitness nearby I will take advantage of my membership - either way I spend about an hour between the treadmill and stationary bike. During warm weather I try to get out of work early enough to lay out by the pool for an hour working on my tan before dinner - gotta love those bikini lines!

But from then on, except for 30 to 60 minutes spent on the phone with my spouse, my time is either taken up with reading or work if I have something that needs to be done.

Plus, as I don’t sleep well, I always have plenty of extra time to read. Sometimes it helps to beat back the demons in my soul. Other times, like tonight, it doesn’t really work.

Laptop

My laptop was old and recently gave up the ghost. A new one is in the works. So, pen and papering it which is fine :)

Our PC's at work are massively locked down, I work for a security company. Ans yes Im on my phone.

Thanks all

Is fearr Gaeilge briste, ná Béarla clíste.

Broken Irish is better than clever English.

Locked down PCs

OMG don’t get me started. On our unclassified internet facing PCs an i5 (6700) CPU takes up to 2 minutes to log in. Checking the Task Manager just as the desktop starts to populate finds all cores fully saturated. The security software on it absolutely dominates the CPU usage. It will take a high end 8 core modern processor to keep login to a more sane 10 seconds.

I just hope...

That there's not a class 3 portal opening anywhere around me with Kara out driving!

Driving

Um when was she driving?
