so last night I dreamed that during a marathon that I was participating in I saw a large snake about to get among the runners, I was able to capture the snake holding it just behind the head. And with barriers on both sides of the course, I felt I had no choice but to finish the course while keeping a hold on the critter.

Bizarre, yes?

Freud would have a field day with this one!

But then he had a dirty mind (that he projected on to everyone else), and his idea of universal symbolism where a certain item means the same thing in every dream seems pretty simplistic to me. Sometimes a snake is just a snake. Whatever he might think the reptile in your dream represents I see this situation your wacky unconscious conjured up as an affirmation of your kindness, your nurturing side; putting your discomfort/fear aside to save a hapless critter in peril of getting trampled. When I had my precious kitty Gojira I was always dreaming I had to rescue her from my the weirdest situations, like we were in a switching yard with huge locomotives and freight cars going everywhere, and she was freaking out, not knowing which way to run and I was terrified of her getting squashed. It's a mom thing, I think...

Depends

What was the snake wearing?

Seems to be an extended metaphor for life. You're taking on a life threatening challenge to allow those around you to succeed. You readily have accepted the personal hazards.

Good for you!

Definitely

Definitely bizarre. Especially since a section of this afternoon's naptime dream had a fairly large snake found in my clarinet (in its case) that I'd left outside for some reason. Near the end of the dream, water at a beach was draining followed by increasingly big wave breakers.

Ok, I'll bite.

(snerk)

Logic tells me that, if you were obliged to hold the snake for the entire race, then it must have finished the event.

In that case, did it get a medal? If so, how is it possible to get the medal to stay on the snake? A ribbon would just slip off!

Enquiring minds want to know.

I suspect it would be disqualified

since it didn't run by itself.
Otherwise, depending on how it's held it might even get a better time :)
Also, an elastic "ribbon" might work.

disqualifed

Lunch can not qualify for a race so stir fry or barbecued? That is the question.

Have a good day and enjoy life.

Nightmare Story

I haven't written any stories based on my nightmares, but I have inserted nightmares into some stories. Also, references to nightmares.

"Running with Snakes": a Native-American name comparable to "Dances with Wolves"? A white man transforms into a native-American young lady, and earns the name?
