"I figure Jon and I got mostly left alone because trying to figure out how to insult us in French was too much work."

I've begun reading Brooke Erickson's story, as yet unfinished, in Karen Wagner's NiS Universe: Brooke Naked in School.

Brooke, a high-school TG student on puberty blockers, is registered in the Program by her divorced dad. Dad wants his "son" to man up, and exposes to the school that she's "really" a boy. Young Brooke, stripping that first Monday in school assembly, inadvertently performs a professional strip-tease.

Administration overreacts to a boy's (Jon's) rhetorical question, and requires him to change to girls' clothes -- right then and there. Brooke notices that he's too good at putting on his bra and buttoning up his backward-button blouse. Does anyone else notice? Jon's confusion about which end of his panties is front -- was that an act?

Just before her first class, Brooke is mugged by a large boy. The guardian assigned to him breaks the mugging. That class is biology, and the teacher uses the opportunity to have her and a boy in the Program to sit up front for the lesson.

The next class is French, where Madame la Professeure uses her and CDed Jon to demonstrate CD and TG French issues: «Elle est très joli.» Vraiment? «Joli» et pas «jolie»? For the transgenders? Feminine pronoun but masculine adjective?

Et Jon est «un travesti»? OUCH!
