Hi folks,

Erin and I are working on trying to get the gallery running again. As a temporary measure, you can reach the gallery HERE. Please DO NOT add things to this copy of the gallery since we're not certain that this is a permanent change.

This is from a backup we had from late May of this year. Things were probably added that aren't in this version. We're working to try to recover a more recent version from a bad hard drive.

We'll keep you posted on when the Gallery will be back to "normal". What's driving us nuts now is that the place that hosts the gallery server is now having network problems and we can't get to the server to do anything with it.

Maybe when things settle down Erin or I will post a short note about this latest saga of the servers.

Gallery slow

The gallery has temporarily been moved to the same server as BCTS. This is not ideal since Gallery is a memory pig. :) But things are working and we may be able to get the old server back up soon :)

The Gallery server is dead. Funeral services will be held in North Carolina. Everything on the gallery server since Mar. 27 (May 27?) is gone. Sorry about that.

The version of Gallery currently running on the BCTS server is the most current we have. We will probably be moving that to a new Gallery server since all that graphics is such a pig. :)

Long Live the Queen?

Sad news indeed Erin. Would it be better to just use remote URL's from another website or would that really slow access? Still, North Carolina is not exactly next door so maybe it doesn't matter where I store my pics? I don't want to start a Pic library that is going to be a hassle for BC to access or not possible to access. If I just create a subdirectory on my Yahoo/Geo site can I use that URL to illustrate a story and save you a headache?

Gwen, Galley is useful for lots of people. :) But what server a referenced pic is on matters less than how stable it is. Bob and I are working on a permanent solution. Currently, TS is on a server in CA, Gallery was in NC, Classic in TX and the TopShelf movies in Pennsylvania. :)

Welll....

The new Gallery server is fixed and active...and they screwed up the DNS so it isn't reachable by HTTP right now. Eesh. Might take four days for that to get sorted but Bob and I are working on a more permanent solution, maybe. Ultimately, this would lower the cost of running BC and associated services so it may be good news. :)

More announcements bye and bye. :)
