I recently read a remarkable book, "Almost Perfect" by Brian Katcher. It's marketed as a Young Adult novel, suitable for ages 14+, but it's a very good read for adults, too.

It was published in October 2009, and received the 2011 Stonewall Children's & Young Adult Literature Award.

It's available from Amazon.com and other booksellers.

Highly recommended to BCTS readers and authors!

The great thing...

...which I'm sure is duplicated throughout the country, is that it's available at our county library system. It's won several awards, and several of the reviews talk about it has a broad appeal beyond the expected target audience of GLBT etc. teens. Great! And the other great thing is that we have quite a few authors here who I believe are capable of producing books of similar quality and appeal. The demand may be there, but the need surpasses that demand by ten to a hundred fold.
