My apologies for these poor bits of verse. I'm afraid that I'm using them to allow me to express and clarify my own feelings and thoughts as I go through the various stages of transition.

Persephone

The music has started, the carousel spins,

I’ve accepted myself and my journey begins.

Long hours have I lain tormented by fears,

tossing and turning as my pet demons sneered.

--SEPARATOR--

Yet in that dark furnace I both lost and I gained.

The bonds that once held me, the dread weight of my chains,

are now a bright crystal that pierces the mist,

to now see what may be, what may not, and the risks.

--SEPARATOR--

The music runs faster, my steed spreads her wings,

Pegasus breaks free from her bonds as she springs.

Behind lies regrets, below lies old fears,

ahead lies a future, unformed yet so clear.

--SEPARATOR--

This flight is no fantasy, this journey no quest.

The dangers are real yet still I feel blessed,

for at last I can see who I was, who I’ll be.

And soon in my heart I know I’ll be free.

You can take away the question mark after poetry because it is! The imagery of the pegasus spreading its wings fits well the journey of transition. :-)

"Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."

Bon voyage Persephone.

A Nice ride around Manchester to finish off the Sparkle weekend.

Pegasus got to some pretty wonderful places; so will you.

Good luck and happy landings.

Congratulations and Good Luck

Dear Persephone,

Thank you for the poem, I remember those feelings well. Freedom and relief were some of the most striking sensations I had, some gender euphoria, too. I'm always glad to hear about one of our number transitioning. Really great! I'm happy for you.

written in such a personal way. As Renee said, a gender euphoria. Thank you!

Ode for the journey.

Angharad's picture

Life is for living;
Joy is for giving,
Sharing our gifts and our love
With those it would seem
Who deserve our esteem,
Endowed to us from up above.

Being ourselves
Be it fairies or elves,
Princes, Princesses or Kings,
What matters the most
And this we can boast
Is honesty to self in all things.

So the journey's begun
Just follow the sun,
Go with it down in the west;
For where the sun sinks
Is where, so methinks
You'll find that your life will be best.

Good luck on your way;
And happiness stay
With you each step of the trail.
Your end point's in sight
So follow your light
And get there safe without fail.

Pegasus was male...

The music runs faster, my steed spreads her wings,

Pegasus breaks free from her bonds as she springs.

…although, with all those feathers and a lovely coat, maybe there was something the Greeks weren’t telling us about her?
