Sorry folks, life has got in the way of my plans yet again. On the weekend I bought a dresser/bookcase and I'm having to make space for it - my house is very cluttered with all sorts of stuff, including things I should have thrown out years ago.

The dresser/bookcase whatever it is, is dark wood and quite old and the leaded glass in the doors is beautiful with a central panel of frosted glass suporting two semi-circles of green stained glass inside each of which is a leaf. Under this is pair of drawers and a two door cupboard with a shelf or two. When I've got it cleaned up and assembled I'll post a photo. I bought it from a house clearance place for what I thought was a very good price, but they have no idea of provenance etc.

The upshot of all this is that I haven't had time to do do any Bike tonight, so apologies to both my regular readers. I did ask Bonz to write it but he gave me the finger - or should that be toe? Whizz has been her usual naughty self, looking for food all the time and climbing up and down on everything - she broke my favourite tray tonight.

No bike tonight

So we are going to get two episodes tomorrow, right?

Just kidding. Have a nice night off from writing.

I think it's the paw!

Looking forward...

Looking forward to seeing the photos, when finished. Sounds like a nice piece of furniture... (More space for books is never a bad thing! LOL)

Be intereesting ..

... to see a picture of your bargain bookcase. We have one with leaded glass over a writing desk but it's relegated to the spare bedroom which also has SWMBO turbo-trainer installed. It is, of course never used and probably counts as one of the things we should get rid of

Trying to think how you break a tray without (say) an axe.

I'll manage without Bike ... somehow but I don't know how.

Put the cats in it. I wonder what they look like

sleep well ...

Sleep well darling. Hope you enjoy your new-found vocation, restoration. The green glass stuff sounds interesting.

Here's a piccie of a kitchen wall unit I made from scratch. The glass panels were recovered from an old edwardian door taken out of my next-door neighbour's porch.

Doing it yourself can be totally rewarding so enjoy your polishing. It'll give you a mental rest as well as a physical one.

I've said it before so it hardly needs repeating. Take a break.

Look after yourself,

Bev.

if you decide

it doesn't fit in with your current decor, send it to me. I can trash everything I have so it will fit in nicely

It's often the way, innit?

You fall in love with a piece of furniture; then, after you buy it, you have to (a) get it home, then (b) get it into the house - often upstairs, then (c) find/make room for it and, finally, (d) restore it.

Cats don't help either; they usually trip you up when you're trying to manoeuvre the thing.

The answer; sit down with a nice cup of tea at every stage.
