Is fate conspiring against (British Cycling) Team Sky?

Following on from TdF winner Bradley Wiggins and Head Coach Shane Sutton getting up close and personal with cars, Mark Cavendish has now collided with one (albeit this time in Tuscany rather than Manchester or Lancashire) and suffered a bruised arm.

isn't with Sky anymore, he's with Omega Pharma Quickstep and he ought to know better than be anywhere near Italian drivers.

Italian Drivers

Gee, I drove from Milan to Brescia and didn't have a problem... much... well...
You note, I didn't do the driving on the return trip.

theres no serious damage its a part of riding, attempted murder occurs on my commute pretty much every day - keeps your reflexes sharp!

As for the Nashunal squad - we seem to have some youngsters who'll give Gabs a run for her money, we saw performances at the Hoy that wouldn't've been out of place at t'olympics!

And lets face it, being a sprinter means Cav is a tough cookie and a few days off won't do him any harm.

Considering ...

... that pro bike riders probably ride around 20,000 miles/year in training on public roads it's hardly surprising they have the odd 'incident'. At my peak I was riding half that, mostly commuting and touring with the odd time trial thrown in, and I had enough minor problems.

As Ang says, Cav is no longer a Sky rider and he IS riding in Italy :o). I've only driven in Italy for a couple of weeks waaay back in 1970 when we car camped in our 2 seater Austin Healey Sprite (not much more room than two single bicycles) all the way down to Naples and back. The further south we got the madder the driving and I was no slouch in those far off days! I think they relied on St Christopher to keep them safe :)

Team Sky's run of bad luck

Team Sky's run of bad luck will hopefully soon end. Can the team still compete with the injuries?
