Merry Christmas - four years later!

First, let me just say a very happy holiday season to everyone! I know it's been quite awhile since I've posted. It's been a rough year for me, between finishing up dental surgery, dealing with a cyber-stalker, and most recently the CT school tragedy. But I'm not posting this to complain about the bad.

There's been a lot of good this year, and the last couple of years infact, since I was introduced to the love of my life, Ashleigh McGreagor, aka DarkKitten.

We've been trying to meet offline for the better part of a year now, but something always came up. So far as we know we're still on for this one, though. In just over a week she'll be flying across the pond. :-D

But, wow. Four years, almost to the day. Technically three as I started as a blogger and then started writing Becoming Robin later. BR has been pretty much my demon exorcism novel. It's so riddled with euphemisms, symbolism, subtle inside jokes that only a few people ever get, and it's so badly written that most publishing houses wouldn't wipe their collective arses with it.

But it's the story I wanted to tell, and it still is. I've come to think of the "Robinverse" collectively as a test bed for creative writing ideas. Some stick, most don't, but I'm a better writer for the experience, so it was worth it just for that :-)

I've also been able to overcome most of my trepidation about transitioning, thanks to the support and love of this community. I know I don't always give back as much as I've gotten, and I truly am sorry for that, but you guys will always be a big part of my life. I found my voice here, and I found myself. I'm still working on the actual transition part because I need to not be in a place where the whole community would string me up - ask me about the Buddhist donut shop owner some time if you think I'm joking here. :-)

But anyway, it's been a great four years, and in just over a week or so, I'll be starting the fifth one off fantastically.

Ashly, I love you. Piper, I love you for introducing me to Ashly, but I just plain love you, too ;-) *hugs*

To everyone else, have a safe, happy Holiday and God bless. Thank you for giving me the courage to take back my life.

Love,
Zoe Marie Taylor

PS: I was going to post this Christmas Day, but we're expecting bad weather of the "We might lose power" variety, so I wanted to get it out there before we have to make preparations :-)

Candles, and a natural gas stove :-D

Zoe Taylor's picture

We have dozens of candles throughout the house, and a natural gas stove in the dining room that can heat half our house just on one burner (or three if it's really cold), plus a barbecue grill within close proximity of the back porch for making campfire coffee and cooking. :-D

I'm not entirely sure but I think our hot water heater is natural gas as well. Hope so anyway. Taking a cold shower when it's below freezing outside, with no bathroom heat, wasn't fun the last time I tried it :-P

Happy Holidays Zoe

We left Little Rock for Christmas in Salzburg, Austria. We're having record warmth. You might get the snow. Go figure.

Be VERY Careful, using a stove to heat the house risks monoxide

poisoning!

Most houses with gas stoves have a ventilator to the outside to reduce the risk. And a well tuned/maintained gas appliance is pretty safe.

BUT should the electricity go out here's something to remember. If your vent is a powered one and not something that uses the draft from your chimney as some older homes do, open a window or two a little to make sure you vent the CO2 and minimize the chance of monoxide -- CO -- from forming and building up to dangerous levels. A headache is one of the signs of monoxide poisoning.

And candles cause fires if not used with caution.. Well DUH!

-- grin --

Be safe Zoe.

Best wishes for the holidays and here's hoping the storm does not knock out your power.
