Good afternoon (at least in my time zone) and Happy Holidays.

I probably just did the bravest thing I've done in years, just by clicking on the "submit story" button. There were times in the writing of this I was literally trembling in fear. One's first story is probably the hardest, as no one knows you, or what to expect. And you, the author, have no way of knowing what the reaction is going to be.

I've just posted the first part of a story I'd almost given up on. It might--or might not--fit the rules of the contest, as the pivotal snowstorm comes in later installments (I think I'm safe in spoiling that much). But I wrote it with the intention of making it part of the contest.

Those of you who saw my preview some time ago might notice some changes from that version. Chief among them being that I start with my main character, Joey, doing what a transgendered child does. Namely, sneaking into his sister's bedroom and wearing her clothes. I realized I wrote about it in the original draft, but I didn't write a passage of him actually doing it. That has been remedied, and I can only hope it doesn't bog the story down.

As this is my first timid toe in the water as an author, so to speak, I do have one technical question. How does one edit a story after it's posted? I noticed a glaring error in formatting in the opening blurb (I hit "Send" a little sooner than I planned).

(Edit: OK, I found out Erin or another moderator has to upgrade me to Author first. I can live with that). =)
